outgrows my expectations - excellent - 8/10

I basically wasted today watching these two;

^ In the hands of a (much) better writer and director, this could've been good. Watch it only if you want to see how a fairly quirky and interesting concept can be completely misused and therefore wasted.

^ Actually, this wasn't so bad. Trouble is, it wasn't so good either. There's some very interesting character development, and the premise is again interesting, but there's far too much narrative padding and that god-forsaken seasick-cam direction with the camera work.

I've got Feast, Zelig and Hariold and Maude on tomorrow's to-watch list. Here's hoping it'll be a more interesting one than this bunch.

I can't state how much I dislike anime. But I was convinced to watch this movie, and it was pretty damn impressive. Especially technically, considering how stunning the visuals were and it was completely hand drawn.

Now anime is like county music to me. I don't like country music, but I like Johnny Cash. I don't like anime, but I like Akira. 8/10

Way better than you'd think. I've got a huge soft spot for Grindhouse, and if you've ever really enjoyed, say, Tarantino or Rodriguez, or even Allison Anders - you'll probably dig this.

I feel pretty much the same. Generally on the whole, I don't like anime. Especially not when it features over the top characters with squeaky voices and hair in funny colours who get all stylized and scream with their arms flailing whenever something doesn't go their way. Akira is brilliant, though, both the movie and the longer manga it's based on. Akira along with Ghibli Studio films like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are a few of the animes I can stomach. ;)

Power Kids

I loved this movie. It reminded me of 3 Ninjas but instead of just going to save their uncle they were going to get a heart to save their little brother from dying. This movie has much more heart in it because of the sacrifice they were making.

The origin of why this woman has a slit mouth pulls on your heart strings a bit. I didn't even know there was a sequel until I was looking up the movie poster for this one so I might have to check it out. I wasn't expecting to like this movie as much as I did. I thought it was going to be the typical ghost movie where they just use music and flashes to try to scare you and nothing happens to people. It was much more than that though.

If you liked Hobo, you should love the short film that the same guy directed before he did Hobo.

Oddly enough, I was only just reading about this yesterday and thinking it sounded cool. Definitely on my to-do list then.

As for me;

Best horror comedy I've seen in ages, and it's good to watch a proper film after the rather lame streak of viewings I've been on lately. The gore was beautifully done, the action scenes superbly directed, the monsters very well-designed, there were some genuine laughs throughout, and frankly it's worth watching if only to see Henry Rollins swinging a machete around. Not bad at all for a film that basically recycles the plot for From Dusk 'til Dawn.

Judging by the trailers the sequels look absolutely atrocious, so I think I'll just pretend they don't exist (which makes it all even more similar to From Dusk 'til Dawn I suppose).

You are making the right choice, good god don't touch the sequel.

I'm guessing by you saying "sequels" there is a third one maybe that I haven't heard of.

I just remember Feast 2 being extremely awful in comparison to the first one.
