Well John Barrowmen is a poofter so the fact he could get line out is pretty impressive.

Oh no Shark Attack 3 is quite popular with the Saturday night stoner watching sci-fi crowd. I've even heard of people organizing parties just to watch that horrible movie. I myself have gone to gatherings like that, however it was more a social meeting with food, beer, and pot. None of us were there for only the movie, however it did make for an entertaining and cheap way to spend a Saturday night if you're short on cash.

There is no doubt that the money is up there on screen but what a bloody mess. The Terminator series is a huge part of growing up for me so it's like seeing your own child grow up into a sugar addled mess despite laying solid foundations.

The Terminator series has always been about the human aspect as well as the action, something they basically forgot about in this film :(

Ill be back^^ LOL

Latest movie i have watched is UP with my three year old.

Very HEartfelt and Wacky movie.
I loved it.

I dont know if it would be considered a "film" or what because its computer animated.

jackhammer 12-19-2009 07:55 PM

I also recently watched the latest Harry potter film with my kids and I don't care what all you peeps that think that the films are immune from criticism say: it was boring as hell. Solid direction an' all that but this is a kids movie? give me Neverending Story anytime.

I don't know how many times I say this to people but the later Harry Potter films/books are not supposed to be kids movies. The series grows with its readers. I started reading it when I was 12 and when the first film came out I was still quite young. As I and other fans grew older, the series also matured to suit our 'reading ages' and by the final book and final film I would honestly call it an adult series.

If you haven't read the books or grown up with the series I can understand completely how you wouldn't enjoy the film. I think it could possibly be a generational thing. I have read all the books and seen all of the films that have been released so far and absolutely love them. I think the films are such a faithful representation of the novels. But I do admit that probably a lot of the reason why I love the series so much is because I grew up reading the books and so they hold sentimental value as well.

You'll have a very hard time enjoying the movies if you're not familiar with the books or with the immensity that it swept up the childhood and teenagehood of people from that generation.

^ Brilliant, not that I'd expect anything less from something with Armando Ianucci's name attached to it.

^ One of Woody Allen's earlier films which is made of five shorter movies. Some of them were a bit lame, a bit too loaded with corny punchlines etc, but the last segment is bloody hilarious. The one starring Gene Wilder was great stuff too.

I was generally going on what my kids said upon watching it and even taking out the nostalgic value and judging it solely on it's own merits I found it lacked pace and enjoyment. Just because I have never read the books shouldn't mean that I can't judge it within the medium of film.

I realise that the series is a huge part of peoples lives but I can only judge as I see.

Anyhow for me:

After watching the superlative Martyrs I read that this was another great effort from France but I felt very let down by this. It was intense and well acted but lacked a sincere realism that I wanted.

NumberNineDream 12-20-2009 05:57 PM

What's very bad in the HP movies is that they can't be understood without reading the books. There's just so many characters and things going on, they have to cut 3/4 of it just to put it in a 3 hours movie.

Like the last movie became like chick flick, about HP's first love, when the first half of the book looks more like a chapter of Into the wild.

More epic than Independance Day and Day after Tommorow combined, yes. Any real good though? Not really.

Just saw this again at the cinemas. Was quite scary, but that's not saying much because I pretty much get terrified at anything. Wasn't as scary as it was cracked up to be, though.

Also, it seems that different cinemas in Australia are playing different endings. I saw a different ending to my friends who saw it at a different theatre. Odd. Does anyone know why?

Yeah... not much going on at an emotional or especially deep level, but it was fun if you're looking for a mystery/action flick, with some religious tie-ins.

I had already watched its remake Wicker Park last year, so not much change, which is bad for the remake. Loved the acting, dialog and ending in that one more ... well, all just minor changes.

It's better to just watch that one and skip its remake, it ruined it for me (specially that Josh Hartnett is too annoying - and you do have Monica Belucci in the original).

Neon Genesis Evangelion-The End of Evangelion
http://images.absoluteanime.com/neon...evangelion.jpg

well for the past 3 or 4 days i've been watching the series on youtube and somewhere in the comments i read how the movie is sort of an alternate ending as opposed to the last two series episodes that might have been too confusing and alienating.

in short, i loved every minute of it, especially the part where Eva Unit 01 joined with Lilith/Ayanami and the whole world just lit up, so to say. alot of what they talked about near the end is still stuck with me and tbh it's really making me contemplate my life. there are some more than questionable and outright wtf moments (especially the first scene of the movie, haha), but i wouldn't expect less from the show anyway. the ending is pretty much on the poster, though, so that might be a bit of letdown for some people. and the ending itself is pretty open ended and frankly a little mean, to which i prefer the series ending, but the process up to it in the movie was ALOT better executed.

but yeah, if you watched the whole series but not the movie, go see it. if you've never seen the series, watch it first, then the movie, cause without it you'd be confused as hell.

The extended edition. Nearly 3...hours...long...Took me three tries but I finally finished it. Extremely boring, pretentious twaddle.

After that one and Alexander, I don't wanna watch another Colin Farrel movie.

Colin Farrell was quite decent in Tigerland but he is very overrated.

In Bruges was a great film, the only film I've really enjoyed that has Colin Farrel in. If you haven't seen it, I'd reccomend you do.

I liked water world, but I have not seen it in a couple years. Good flick in my book.

Guybrush 12-23-2009 12:54 AM

^I thought it was like a re-attempt at Mad Max only with Kevin Costner and a lot of water instead of dry land. Okay entertaining, but certainly didn't live up to all the extravaganza involved in making it.

Oh come on, I realize it's something you could watch on a Sunday afternoon with your grandparents, but it's nowhere near being in the same category as New World and there's absolutely nothing pretentious about it. On the contrary, it's got a great story which everyone can easily understand and/or relate to, great and convincing actors and one of the most memorable scores ever.

Plus, it's got loads of people speaking posh English, how can it possibly suck? :D

Standard kitchen-sink drama. Unremarkable.

No seriously, I just saw it for the first time a few months ago and absolutely hated it. And the score was good but completely inappropriate for the movie.
