Just watched Lilya 4-Ever. Fantastic movie. One of the most depressing things I've seen yet, perhaps even more so than The Elephant Man.

Re-watched an old favorite by one of my favorite directors...

I've seen it 2 or 3 times. It's another one of my favorite 60's drug films. Might have to watch it next for a double dose.

Once Upon A Time In The Midlands

An awful trailer for a very entertaining movie.

Jack Nicholson is the man.

Sicario

Exo's review is everything I'd say, I mean literally everything I'd say, except I give it a 4.5/5. Thought it was excellent. I actually live 10 miles from the border so this hits harder than any film I've seen this year.

This film though. This fucking film. Absolutely one of the most beautiful, mesmerizing films I've seen in the past 20 years. And that's how old I am. Joseph Gordon Levitt's frenchiness had me sold the entire time, and the ensemble were all perfectly cast. The visual effects were gorgeous, an extremely tasteful look at New York City. And the story, dear God. It's a true story, but even the actual events are pure poetry. Robert Zemeckis is a legend, this film is epic in every sense. And the Towers are draped in elegance.

6/5

12 Angry Men (1957)

Engaging, fantastic, and quite thrilling for a film set in a single room for 90 minutes.

Did you note how the camera's change as the movie progresses? At the beginning we see the whole room and all of the players but as the action heats up the shots get more and more focused on individuals and intense close ups.

Lumet was a master.
