I watched these four yesterday
Repo! The Genetic Opera
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/l...0809231616.jpg
I'm a little later watching this but I absolutely loved it and I have to find the soundtrack. This probably has to be one of my all time favorite musicals.

Fifty Dead Men Walking
http://www.tribute.ca/tribute_object...MenWalking.jpg

i went into this movie not really knowing what it was going to be about but it ended up being about the IRA. It is loosely based off of an autobiography by Martin McGartland. If you haven't checked out this crime thriller, it's a must see. The kid from 21 and across the universe is the main lead.

Salt
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41IxoUPCDuL.jpg
I really loved this movie but I need to re-watch it because I was multi-tasking at the time when I watched it so I pretty much just saw all the action sequences and not sure what the hell was going on. I have the say the action sequences were done very well they reminded me of something that Michael Bay would throw together. I know Michael Bay gets a lot of flack but I love his action sequences especially when they involve real type things aka his car chase sequences.

Fragments
http://www.flixray.com/dvd_covers/200908/118572.jpg
This movie pissed me off so badly. By the end of it, i'm like wtf why did I watch this downer movie. I don't even want to talk about it.

It is great the first time you watch it, but not so great after you re-watch it a few times. Still the soundtrack is great, even the songs sung by Paris Hilton

The songs sung by her didn't really bother me/surprise me because I know she has a pretty decent singing voice. I liked her album that she released a few years back.

the Matrix influence was annoying but the film was full of eye candy and the soundtrack was phenomenal....

I loved it as well

Why the hell is this movie being marketed as having some ridiculous twist? I mean it has one but it's really not that crazy. Regardless, it was very well made and I enjoyed it a lot. 8/10

I thought this was fantastic. Beuatiful imagery, great acting, good storyline. My only complaint was that the ending left me wanting a little more. Other than that this was probably my favourite movie of 2009. 9.5/10

djchameleon 01-23-2011 06:53 AM

what is your first movie? I can't see it the image isn't there anymore

It's a movie alled Catfish, and the tagline in the picture I posted is "Don't let anyone tell you what it is." It's a well made faux-documentary, but the twist isn't that big, like at all.

djchameleon 01-23-2011 07:09 AM

hmm never heard of it. I'll have to look it up and see if I like it.

I don't know, I thought it was. It seemed fake that they would record all the stuff before they went to Michigan or whereever to try and find them.

I've had this on my netflix instant queue for a while, but have been really hesitant to watch it...I'll definitely check it out sooner than later now.

iunno, people record themselves doing everything already. But i see what your saying. I still thought it was a sweet movie, in a really sad way :(

And I definitely prefer it to The orphanage. Both good films, but while The orphanage faded pretty soon from my memory, The others are still pretty vivid in my mind.

And it does hold up really well to repeat viewings.

You see I think The Orphanage works on so many more levels and has elements of a ghost story, marital drama, suspense, mystery, twists and some wonderful set pieces and I have watched it 3 times and still find much to enjoy whereas The Others has a feel of contemporary British ghost stories that are two-a-penny and I have seen similar in terms of tonality many times before either through TV or cinema.

Each to their own I guess and that's not to say The Others is a bad film either. I just found it lacking in originality.

Anyhoo. I have been looking for this film for years and now I have joined an online rental site, I found it available for streaming tonight:
http://movie.masjo.com/images/the-hidden-.jpg

Despite having a slightly dodgy storyline, this holds up really well. I was impressed by Micheal Nouri's performance when I saw it around ten years ago and it's still very good and the action hasn't dated at all.

One of the better 80's B movies that slipped under the radar.

I thought it was pretty great too. I actually did some more research and decided it's real. There's an interview with the
Spoiler for :
lady who's pretending to be Megan
on ABC, so I'm pretty sure it's legit now. Either way, good movie.

As I said, it still holds up really well and with a few tweaks it could be made into a really good remake.

In an odd sort of way I was hoping it sucked so I could lose this albatross of nostalgia but not so. It is still decent. Claudia Christians ass FTW.

British frame story horror film with Peter Cushing. Aside from the obviously dated and comical special effects, it was a pretty captivating watch.

I watched it twice today. I'm in love with this movie.

Well, the thing is I really like Alexis Bledel, and as soon as I saw this showing on cable, I thought I should definitely watch it. And admittingly, I enjoyed it, definitely some funny parts, and it wasn't drawn out, so nothing was completely boring. All in all, I enjoyed it.

Definitely one of the best films I've seen in a while. I love the approach Christopher Nolan made in making this film. You'll recognize it by at the most, the third scene. What I love about the movie is just as you think everything's flowing and completely understandable, Nolan just fucks with your head in the last half hour. I'd definitely recommend this movie.

Simply loved it. I wish Natalie Portman acted in some more great films :( She was just, perfect for this role in my opinion. Mila Kunis did a terrific job as well. Definitely in my top 3 best films of the last year.

I don't know if it was the 3 Heinekens, 2 Bud Lights, Sam Adam's Winter Lager, and loads of sake I had before and during, but all I kept thinking the whole time was "Man, Seth Rogen looks and sounds like a muppet."

Yeah he's pretty much the human incarnation of Fozzy Bear.

Seriously though....the guy who played Kato was great. Everyone else sucked so much. The alcohol was the only thing that kept me engaged.

Memento is one of those films that I watch every time I see it on one of the movie channels. I really need to buy it on dvd that's how much I love it.

I ****ing love this movie. I haven't seen this since I was like 7 or 8 at the most. I popped it in expecting a nice trip down memory lane but I haven't been impressed by a movie in a while. 10/10 basically amazing.

No I've only seen this one recently. I saw My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service when I was REAAAALLY young, so I don't remember much about them, haha. I'll check that movie out though. I loved Spirited Away so much.

You should really check out Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind. Its a bit older but is definately my favorite Hayao Miyazaki film.

Shit but I still sat through it all. The kind of film I should have seen when it came out when I knew nothing about movies and then seen through nostalgic eyes.

The Batlord 01-25-2011 02:00 PM

Hayao Miyazaki is a genius. If you haven't seen Princess Mononoke, then you should definitely do so. And Castle In the Sky. Just see all of them.

Guybrush 01-25-2011 04:22 PM

I just saw The Innocents from 1961 :)

http://www.best-horror-movies.com/im...vie-poster.jpg

It's a black and white psychological horror movie in which a governess hired to take care of a couple of children believe the children are being possessed. It is based on the Henry James novel The Turn of the Screw which I haven't read, but I really enjoyed the movie. It was intelligent, very effective in it's cinematography with a thoroughly creepy atmosphere. It's nice to watch a horror classic which doesn't vent suspense each chance it gets with cheap spooks, but keeps building that suspense right up until the very end of the film .. The ending was just lovely and left me guessing which I both love and hate.

Recommended to those who think they might like a creepy, classic horror movie which should appeal to ghost believers and sceptics alike :)

edit :

By the way, the movie inspired Kate Bush to write the song "The Infant Kiss" which I love of course!

dankrsta 01-25-2011 04:41 PM

^Excellent film! It has a clear influence on The Others among other films, which I praised the other day. But, I must say The Innocents is better.

Oh and I didn't know it inspired Kate Bush. Cool!

Scarlett O'Hara 01-25-2011 04:42 PM

AMAGAD I just watched paranormal activity 2 and it was sooooo awesome! I totally wasn't expecting it connect with the first. Can't wait for PA3!
