I always liked the second Robin best...busted stealing the wheels off the batmobile! :)
Now that would make a cool movie....the death in the family story arc |

I just got back from The Dark Knight Rises. In a way, I like The Dark Knight just a little more. Still a very good movie though.

Seeing it tomorrow. Avoiding reading any of the above til I do.... but I am anticipating nothing less than an excellent closing to the series. The IDMB rating has already surpassed that of the The Dark Knight, which amazes me.... though some of that is early hype rating as well.
the transition from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight was amazing, just see if the same can be said going from The Dark Knight to The Dark Knight Rises. All these answers will be solved when I see it. To be continued.... |

i have officially decided that i have a major grippe about The Dark Knight Rises
	Spoiler for spoiler:

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
	 |

^greatest film in the series.....in my humble opinion....nothin better than Freddy and his heroin claws....plus the awesome Dokken theme song
	 |

^^yeah i loved that one too
especially the puppet strings where the strings are actually ....... his veins |

 Yesterday I finally saw...
Drive (2011) I thought it was great! Excellent characters, beautiful filmmaking, and such an interesting mood. The dreaminess punctuated by extreme violence felt very unique to me and the tone of the movie reminded me of very little else that I've seen. Play Misty for Me (1971) Also a great movie. I had been meaning to see it forever and was not disappointed. In addition to being creepy and perfectly paced, it had some great local details that really made me miss living in California, including one scene in a restaurant in Monterey where I've actually eaten before. |

Brilliant, but I don't think I've been this shocked and disturbed by a film in a long time. The film deals with some very difficult subject matter such as child sexual abuse and male prostitution and can be very uncomfortable to watch at times. Some scenes are downright disturbing. However Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Brady Corbet both give excellent performances and the soundtrack is top-notch, featuring the likes of Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Curve and Sigur Ros. |

Never seen any other Winding Refn films, I had never even heard of him until watching Drive. Which of his movies would you say is most worth checking out? |

Valhalla Rising was promoted as a 300 type film but has more in common with Kubrick and Tarkovsky. Mogwai provided the soundtrack. |

I plan on seeing Bronson next. Tom Hardy looks just charming in that film. Also excited about his next one coming out this year with Ryan Gosling, Only God Forgives.
	 |

i watched Bronson on a complete whim....honestly thing it was a movie about Chuck himself.....boy was i surprised....it is such a great film
i plan on sitting down and finally watching both Drive and Valhalla Rising this weekend :) |

I didn't care much for Bronson, but I've thoroughly enjoyed everything else from him I've seen (I think I have only missed Bleeder[on HD] and Fear X or something like that).

i came in with very low expectations, as i disliked the previous two instalments, but i was gently surprised if you asked me to draw a graph of my feelings throughout this movie, it's one which fluctuates wildly - very high peaks and very low valleys BAH - Bane as a "terrorist", Anne Hathaway as Catwoman ROOARRGGGHHH!!!! - ROBIN, TALIA satisfactory enough - 7.5/10 |

Careful with your character selection. Some people may have not seen it and it could spoil the ending.

Yeah. Saw The Dark Knight Rises too.
I thought it was on par with Batman Begins, almost a continuation of that one... hell, at times I thought Nolan was trying to remove The Dark Knight from the story line completely. This was further noticed once you realize (as I did before due to an article anyways) that The Joker is not even mentioned once... though one would figure it would be an essential name drop throughout the movie, can't just forget the existence of The Joker after all that time. So I liked it as a continuation of Batman Begins. But, I do not think it measured up to The Dark Knight. Which is my favorite of this trilogy bar none. I left the theatre after that film feeling that high of having my mind blown from a film.... I left The Dark Knight Rises just going, "that was pretty good" and that was all. Nothing really stuck with me the same. I thought Bane was cool, even if his voice got to me at times. Also irritated slightly by the voice as it made him hard to understand. In The Dark Knight, everything was so audible it was easy to follow, dialogue was clear and audible... new one I had trouble at times knowing what to think because his voice was muffled and i had no idea what he was saying. Selena Kyle was alright, while she looked good and had some good scenes, still left me feeling little for her. She was more just the spank material, but a better written one than most like her in these films. Overall, I thought it was a good movie, held up to the first, but not the last. Could have been more "epic" I suppose, some of it seemed rushed and forced (like the kiss from Selena Kyle)... but it is Nolan, he does that. Maybe I just need to see it a few more times, probably just wait for the blu-ray though, watch with captions, haha. I liked it, but not as much as I did The Dark Knight. Though each film is a good stand alone, nothing tops Ledger in that film, or just the chemistry of all involved in that film. Would say 8/10 though (tied with Batman Begins), which is still high.. but after The Dark Knight, which is a solid 10 (in the context of superhero movies) for me still, I expected at least a slightly flawed, but still a great movie.. something a bit more, but the last one probably spoiled that for me too. As I say though, each works as a stand alone film, I think it is a great trilogy none the less. Oh yeah, and I think they set up a Robin story line.... I smell a spin off series.. though probably without Nolan or Bale involved. |

yeah, the brief moment where they called him Robin. Was subtle... well unless you know the comics front to back (which i admit I do not) and would just know from the first time they said his name.

Yeah, I remember watching something with Kevin Smith talking about Tim Burton. How Kevin said something that Tim ripped a scene from one of his comic books, and when called out said "anyone who knows me knows I do not read comic books, especially not one by Kevin Smith" (well something almost identical)... to which Kevin Smith replies "well, that would explain Batman".
I try and forget the 2 after Burton's films... though I admit, Batman Forever, while just mainstream kiddy fare, for what it was was entertaining enough to pass as acceptable. I will admire Nolan for what he did, made more realistic movies of the kind. I see virtually every Marvel movie as the same thing... has so much potential to be great, but throws it away to appeal to the kids more.. probably have a great script, but then decide to dumb it down to appeal more to the young audience who wanna see it because it ties into a happy meal. While Nolans films, though had that marketing, were not kids movies and had ideas that were not dumbed down. Kids will be impressed with the visuals and the booms of the speakers pumping more than the story between the characters. Nolan at least treated his films as adult fiction, that while kids will see it... it is not catered to them at all. That is what makes the Batman franchise now more fun to watch. |

Incredibly strong mumblecore, but it's pretty obvious that everyone over 25 hates this already and the group under that number isn't exactly going to be sweet to it. I for one thought it was a pretty self-aware film that did a good job of being relatable while critiquing a lot of the attitudes the characters had. |

Spoiler for robin in the comics:

and also, Selina Kyle here is closer to the comics than Michelle Pfeiffer's version, that's about all I can say the rest of the stuff isn't that faithful especially considering now Bats can't have a son called "Damian" with you know who |

yeah.. i just think of Tim Blake.... the last name may ring a bell in more die hards mind... not an exact match... but a close one.
