The Mirrors: This is actually one of the best scary movies ive seen in a long time, alot of the ones they've made recently have sucked, REALLY bad, and it doesnt hurt that Paula Patton is hot!!!!

Considering that's that film with Will Ferrell and the guy with the deformed face i can only assume it is the worst film ever.

While the films premise is hardly original, this is a rop roaring horror. Brutal and very well acted. Very Impressed. The French are becoming very good at doing horror.

I watched Dog Soldiers last night and it was marvelous. Made me squirm and squeal like a little piggy.

Really brillant, one of my favorite movies.

The Tenant

bfan 08-23-2008 04:21 PM

Unfortunately...

The Butcher's Wife

(since the subject isn't the 'latest *good* film')

Pretty good social commentary even though it looks like it was shot by a kid with ADHD.

Part concert video, part rockumentary it was shot during 93so pre-Parklife it has everything from interviews to Damon throwing up before going on stage during the Reading Festival to Graham commenting on PJ Harvey saying '.....all she talks about is wanting to be a man and dresses.....' to Damon exposing himself, to the band visiting Stonehenge so alot of stuff like that with concert footage. I really enjoyed it.

That's one of my favorite films of all time. Quentin Tarantino wrote the story line, and handed it over to Oliver Stone to produce/direct. After being sickened with what Stone did to it, Tarantino abandon the project. There's heavy symbolism in this film, ergo the ADHD-style shooting. Stone went over the top with it, yeah, but still has a spot in my heart.

NoseClams 08-25-2008 08:21 AM

tropic thunder was hilarious!

Great and the greatest visual effects I've ever seen.

PaperHurricanes and I were talking about how much we loved this film last night, so I when I went upstairs I put it on. Great acting by Spacey, as always. Anette Benning always seems to annoy me no matter who she plays, but she's a good actress on the whole. The kids in it are skilled beyond their years. Great storyline, great symbolism (thinking of doing a thread in Media - Breaking Down Films W/ Symbolism?), yeah doo.

Tonally uneven and a huge departure from his lo-fi gritty debut 'London To Brighton' but still eminently watchable. Pity about the main characters make up. It looks terrible.

http://www.best-horror-movies.com/im...-dvd-cover.jpg

For a crappy 'B' movie it was watchable. Trust me, I have seen a lot worse.

RoemerMW 08-27-2008 02:46 AM

Star Wars Episode 3, mainly to laugh at the horrible dialogue/acting and powerpoint-like fades and cuts.

devilz advocate 08-28-2008 08:26 PM

BABEL..not that good! confusing at first but later on you will know that they're connected.

simplephysics 08-28-2008 08:33 PM

Yea, I had to watch Babel a few times to understand what was going on. I used subtitles the second time around and it helped a whole fecking lot.

Rejected. It's an amazingly hilarious and creative 9 minute animated movie.

Considering the talent involved : Herzog (director), Christian Bale (star) it was a little dissapointing. Certainly not bad but a lot tamer than what I hoped for and the ending sucked big time.

Twisted Fish 08-30-2008 08:54 PM

Clerks, can't believe it's taken me so long to get around to watching this. Has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time

fragger0 08-31-2008 10:11 AM

The last film i watched was step brothers, about an hour ago at the cinema, it was surprisngly funny, Go and watch it :D

After the brilliance of 'Spirited Away' this seemed to be lacking a certain something. Pace definitely but still gorgeous to look at.

adidasss 08-31-2008 03:34 PM

I thought it was much better than Spirited away...Princess Mononoke is still my favorite of Miyazaki...

I haven't seen a single film in the past 2 and a half months so this was quite refreshing. I actually managed to sit still for an hour and 40-ish minutes. It's a rather charming french Canadian flick from 1971 about the life in a small Canadian village during a few days around Christmas, sometime in the 1940's. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

7/10

Folkie 08-31-2008 03:54 PM

it wasnt the last movie i watched but the last good one The Dark Night was amazing better than i was hoping for

adidasss 08-31-2008 04:03 PM

Not a fan of punctuation aye...

Having read the brilliant and moving book of the same title on holiday, I was eager to see the film.
I was led to believe the movie was true to the novel and as far as the dialogue was concerned it was virtually verbatim to the letter.
Still, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Whether or not I'd watched the film so close after reading the book may have something to do with it, so an accurate opinion of how the film rates is hard for me to judge.
My biggest gripe was that huge chunks of the book had been omitted from the early part of the film that dealt with the relationship of the two friends during childhood. In my opinion a bad mistake, because the bond between the boys is crucial to the plot.
The overall impression of watching the film left me with the feeling I'd speed read the book having flicked through some of the more interesting parts concerning character development.
Still a wonderful story of friendship, loyalty, betrayal, guilt and redemption.
8/10.

adidasss 08-31-2008 04:08 PM

Aye, the reading experience is rarely (if ever) transferred to the big screen.

Especially so with this one.
If you haven't already read the book...get it now man!
You'll love it.

adidasss 08-31-2008 04:14 PM

I'll try to add it to the next Amazon batch. :)

Good man. Best debut novel since The Wasp Factory.

imogen24 08-31-2008 04:18 PM

1. death proof was anything but a yawn fest. 2. tropic thunder- good not great. pineapple express- humorous, but a bit prolonged, would have been better if shorter. 3. last movie was vanilla sky, excellent excellent movie. And possibly one of the few movies tom cruise didn't have to do much acting in. Good soundtrack as well, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, etc.

devilz advocate 08-31-2008 11:50 PM

CJ 7..very nice story

I actually read the book (i know right?)

And i thought the movie screened the most crucial parts. I thought they did a wonderful job of showing the relationship with the father.

All in all as far as book to movie adoptions go, i thought it translated well.

Then again, i rarely ever read the book :P

Watched "Find me Guilty"

Im a sucker for vin diesal <3

And i thought he acted fine in this film, doing well for his first serious role.

vin diesel looks creepy with hair

sweet_nothing 09-05-2008 10:28 PM

I didn't even know he could grow hair.

Thrice 09-06-2008 08:17 AM

I just watched Grandmas Boy (for probably the 100th time.) If you havent seen this you are missing out. I feel this is the most comedic of the 'stoner' movies that are oh so popular during this time.

Wow, I saw it said Vin, but I thought it was a no name actor on the cover with Vins name to sell it. Thats hilarious, I cant wait to see him with hair.
