John Wick. I counted 57 kills. I may be wrong - really hard to keep up.

Although this did have me uncontrollably laughing during a few scenes, overall its definitely a well made film but a lot of the jokes and gags fell embarrassingly flat. Sort of a love/hate going on. I'd say 6.5/10. https://ih0.redbubble.net/image.4961...0,070,f.u1.jpg This on the other hand is fucking hysterical. Yorgo Lanthimos is one of my favorite directors that's emerged this decade. The look of this film is gorge. I'm lazy to check who the cinematographer is but what an incredible job. Very Kubrick like shots and meticulous production design. Extremely great film. 9/10 |
What We Do In The Shadows is one of my favorite movies.

This blew me away. I hardly knew anything about Chet Baker and the rivalry he faced with Miles Davis and all them cool cats back in the day, but Ethan Hawke's performance as this crumbling junkie piece of shit jazz extraordinaire was incredible. It flew under the radar but critics loved it and it's on Netflix. I always knew Ethan Hawke was good, but he's great. Anything he's in I'm glued. |

Of course you'd love a movie that ends with a cop shooting an unarmed black man.

Watched this one last night:
https://www.kino.dk/sites/default/fi...?itok=CrW_s2Xy Los viajes del viento/The Wind Journeys I wanted to read some reviews of it after I was done watching it, but there's nothing at all on neither Rottentomatoes or Metacritic - no matter which title I search by. Out of curiosity, I went to the IMDB user reviews section instead (normally I never use those) and I thought that the featured user review described the worth of this movie just perfectly: "A beautiful film that is in no hurry to unfold (and it shouldn't be because "being in a hurry" is not something the people in the movie seem to feel). Life is not easy here (you can see this etched into every character's face) but you persevere and along the way you look for, and create, beauty and kindness. I love the way the camera often moves backward, showing the characters moving from one environment into the next (they know where they're headed but we don't. The expressions on Fermin's face at the end are a complex wonder to behold (and a great topic for discussion afterward). If you are looking for an anxiety-inducing, misanthropic action-thriller then keep looking. If you want to see a poetic gem made by people who clearly see beauty in the world and know how to help us see it too, then settle down and enjoy "The Wind Journeys"." It's a patient movie and a stunningly beautiful one as well. An important thing the IMDB user above neglects to mention, is the role of music. Music is absolutely integral to the story and themes of the film. All music in the film is diegetic - no exceptions - which is a rare thing and used to wonderful effect. The music is diverse, but very much centered around hand drums and accordion. A scene late in the movie shows one of our main characters play accordion along with a flute playing native, and it's a stunning scene. Stunning in a quiet sort of way, like this movie is in general. Pretty much loved this movie. Easily a new member of my "favorite movies" list. |
