One of my favorite Burtons, this is an awesome retelling of the classic story, if not as good (or even as scary) as the Disney cartoon. It works better as a moody detective thriller than it does as a horror film, the atmosphere is great as are the visuals. Though I wish the film had a more leisure pace, the horseman pretty much shows up right away, the Disney short had a lot more build up.

The film isn't as scary as it could have been but there are some pretty awesome moments, the scene with the kid hiding under the floorboard and seeing the eyes of his mom's sevred head staring back at him through the cracks, that's pretty brilliantly done, and Ichabod's Flashback scene with the iron maiden still freaks me out.

The best thing about this film is Depp of course, he never takes himself too seriously and brings a good dose of camp to the film, Walkin is awesome as horseman, and he doesn't even have any dialogue. Ricci is rather uncharacteristically dull though, which is a shame because she's really hot as f*ck in this movie and you would think a Burton movie would be a great vehicle for her, I really wish her character was more developed and not just a plot device, the love angle just seems very tacked on.

Overall though. It's a beautiful looking film with a great balance of moody Horror atmosphere, action and silly humor.

It's never super laugh out loud funny but it certainly got a lot of chuckles out of me and kept me smiling the whole time. A lot of funny and memorable characters, Livingston is really great as the careless, no bullsh*t protagonist. But the scene stealers are Gary Cole as Lumburgh and Stephen Root as Milton.

Not much to say, the first Disney movie and still one of the best. The animation still looks great and it's always fun to spot all the different little details that you havent noticed before. It's got just about everything you expect from a great Disney film. Beautiful animation, lovable characters, great songs and a great villian.

First off, this is absolutely NOT a kids film, don't make that mistake because this film will traumatize them for life, it's very downbeat and of course there's a big post appocaylptic theme.

This movie has it's fair share of flaws, the pacing is uneven, the characters are never really developed (at all) and yet it still takes a while for the plot to really get interesting, but it gets pretty riviting near the end and the beautiful and imaginative visuals alone makes it work a look and the film captures that creepy, post-apocalyptic feel and atmosphere really well, though it would have benefited from more of that because it does get into a hurry almost as soon as it starts.

I caught Office Space on Comedy Central the other night. It is like the 4th time I have seen it, but I still LOVE it. The last film I saw in theaters was AVATAR and I loved it too.

Finally got around to seeing this:

I think I liked it--I'm kind of still sitting with it. It felt like it had more of a point than did Burn After Reading--I got more out of it at least, but it's not exactly a feel good movie, is it? Hm.

It's not really a film, more of a web movie? But Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog.
If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. I'm prettyyyy sure it's still on Hulu, but I could be wrong.

This looks really creepy. Half of me wants to watch it, the other half doesn't. :p:

From what I've read about it, it sort of fails as a (mock) documentary, as a scary film and as an entertaining one. Is it actually good or is it more just different?

Utterly dire, cliche-ridden, MOR twaddle. Incinerating its budget would've made better use of it.

dire, what an amazing word
