Independence Day is actually a decent movie imo. Armageddon is a piece of garbage

It's decent until you have Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith flying a f*cking ALIEN SHIP to another ALIEN SHIP THAT'S F*CKING THE SIZE OF HALF THE WORLD. Then they magically know exactly where the f*ck to go to hook up their again, ALIEN SHIP and download a f*cking computer virus to kill the aliens. Nonsense.

Also, that stripper mom and the annoying son from Prince of Bel Air should have been killed in that tunnel along with the damn dog. That explosion obliterated f*cking everything but they survived by hiding in a broom closet.

Also, f*cking first lady survives a goddamn plane crash and lives long enough to JUST say goodbye to her husband.

F*ck that movie. It's fun though. Bill Pullman made a good speech.

Independence Day got everyone's freedom boners raging to thrust mode when they blew up the whitehouse.

Engaging and informative, and I was delighted to find it narrated by Peter Coyote.

It doesn't parallel Adam Curtis' Century of the Self, but few documentaries do.

Last night I watched this German movie from 2012 called Barbara. It is about a female doctor who has been banned from West Germany (the nicer part of the country) to East Germany (the depressing part of the country) to serve at a small provincial hospital. She's under surveillance, gets harassed daily by lackeys of the state as she tends to her job at the hospital and secretly plans her escape to the West, through Denmark. Meanwhile, she meets a male doctor who is an informant, but also seems to care about ethics and his job far more than upholding his duties to the state.

Love, ethical dilemmas, danger, suspense, great acting and much more follows.

I can imagine a lot of people would think it looks boring as hell, but I was really positively surprised by how well made the movie was. I recommend it.
