So I picked both of these up a few days ago...

... and holy ****, XGRA is straight up the best racing game I've ever played. How the hell did this game slip under the radar? Faster than F-Zero GX, crazier than Wipeout, and more fun than Mario Kart. XGIII is alright, but XGRA just shines so much more.

This is a must play game, as in stop what you're doing and go buy it right now. It's on the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox, and also probably on Steam, and it's one of those games that is so unknown that copies of it are like ten bucks max. And it's easily in the top ten games of it's console generation. That's how ****ing good it is.

Even if you hate racing games, try this one. Trust me. Once you break the sound barrier for the first time, you'll never want to touch another racing game ever again.

Playing Mega Man 11. It's a Mega Man game. The 11th. If you like the series you will like this.

Not much else to say. I love it.

I played the one in the first picture a long while back. Don't remember much about it, except that the menus and such took a lot of inspiration from Wipeout and that the gameplay was ridiculously fast.

Yeah, XGIII is pretty fast. XGRA, the game in the second pic, is even faster, and yet it's also somehow easier to control. Really, it's just better on every level. Way more tight, and the AI doesn't magically nail every turn perfectly and constantly slingshot back up to you when you're doing too well. It's pretty tough once you unlock the higher speeds, but it never feels cheap.

Defo check out XGRA if you're ever in the mood for blistering speed. Oh, and the other riders' faces pop up on your screen to lay down some smacktalk during the races, Dynasty Warriors style. :D

If the one I did play has cheap bastard AI, that might explain why I didn't play it much. I get frustrated with racing games very easily.

I kinda hate racing games tbh. When you realize you've lost a race five minutes in it's pretty hard to summon up the desire to do it again. If GTA didn't have so relatively few actual race missions I'd probably hate it too.

Never play Mario Kart. The blue shell has legit ended marriages.

The races in XGRA don't last very long. And it's not the type of racer where you're supposed to memorize everything and never make mistakes. You're expected to slam into **** and shoot at the other racers, and the AI does the same. Even when you **** up pretty badly, it's almost never impossible bring it back. It's one of those rare racing games that is super newb friendly, while also having plenty of room for expert play.

Seriously, give it a shot. You'll ****ing love it.

Racing games can feel like Risk. Someone wins during the first 20% of the game. Then everyone else just has to play along until the inevitable conclusion has been reached.

I've played Mario Kart Wii and WiiU against my brother a number of times. In the Wii version, despite never having played it on my own, I would almost consistently wipe the floor with my brother every time I picked Princess Peach and the Dirt Bike. Must be pretty frustrating when he actually knew how to play the game

In the WiiU game, I never won much. But I learned early in the game not to really try to win. It's chaos unless you're a pro.

The XBox version isn't compatible with 360 so unless the Gamecube version is compatible with the Wii then it will probably continue to be under my radar.
