Absolute best 16 bit RPG and I think the first RPG I ever played. I love the SNES Final Fantasies but they clearly couldn't quite keep up with the 2D games graphics wise as they always looked kind of basic and unpolished (just look at those ugly character portraits). Chrono Trigger on the other hand perfected what those games should have looked like, giving you not just sprites on a top-down surface but a feeling of actual fantasy and wonder. I just started and haven't even gone to the fair cause I want to do a bit of grinding for equipment while drinking in the wistful, melancholic atmosphere that feels like someone died a long time ago and the land never stopped being sad.

Literally the most exciting thing in my life besides rediscovering Chrono Trigger is that I'm playing Pokemon Ultra Sun and have finally gotten down my real six (and because Sun and Moon are Hawaii-based all their names are weed strains):

Kandy Kush: lv. 32 Salandit (female and soon to be a Salazzle)
Blue Dream: lv. 36 Primarina
White Widow: lv. 34 Lurantis
Skywalker OG: lv. 33 Rufflet
Sour Diesel: lv. 34 Shelgon
Maui Wowie: lv. 30 Charjabug

Salazzle is a goddess. One of the best revenge killers you can have. If she outspeeds the enemy team, it's pretty much an auto win. And if she ever gets the chance to pull a Foul Play off, get ready for an epic sweep.

Water types in general make good leads and pivots that can take a punch. Add in a Fairy crosstyping, and Primarina makes a great dragon slayer.

Never liked Lurantis. Grass/Bug is a risky typing that usually screws her over.

Braviary is great for suicide bombing with Brave Bird. Throw a choice scarf on one, and you've got one of the most dangerous glass cannons in the game.

Salamence is the only one on your team that gets a mega, so that's nice. But I wouldn't recommend it for serious online play, because it's one of the easiest leads to predict, and you're gonna get your Dragon Dance snatched or seriously punished. Plus, 4x weakness to ice.

Vikavolt is a cool choice, and Bug types in general are sexy and underused. The Electric cross typing makes it a good anti-air, but if it can't kill the target in one hit, it'll easily get oneshotted by any serious Flying damage, so watch out for that. Make sure to give it Volt Switch.

Shut up, nerd. Competitive Pokemon is like competitive virginity. Lurantis is the coolest looking bug since Scyther.

I always thought Breath of Fire was supposed to be poverty Final Fantasy.

lol well you're not wrong but bof 2 and 3 were decent. My thing with Chrono is i played it past its time and given its a bit over hyped as one of the best classic rpgs of all time but for me it didnt live up to that hype. i still passed it and got a few of the multiple endings including the one where Chrono talks.

Dude, I spent three hours yesterday putting a model Qubeley together. I'm well past the point of giving a **** about my nerdiness.

Also, Pheromosa >>> Scyther

Not just because they manage to kick ass with a ****ing Pachirisu, one of the weakest Pokemon ever made, but because it serves as the perfect example that no matter how hard people try to scum their way to victory with whatever boring teams and tactics happen to be most popular in the meta, there's always a way to use their unoriginality against them

Was great.
