I pre-ordered G.I. Joe: rise of cobra and I know i'm going to regret that decision but I wanted the special comic book you get.
I liked Blood Money the best. I felt the mobility and control was so much better and improved by the time they got to that game. All the others were frustrating and hampered by the control imo. |
think i'm getting re-addicted to Pokemon on the gameboy. just defeated the pokemon league in Ruby and now i just dont know what to do with myself. get real hobbies? yea...
by the way, djchameleon - epic avatar. it had to be said. |

Delved into this again whilst off work. Lower league management ftw. |

Probably gonna get some games for the ps2 tomorrow, anything I should especially pick up?

Okami
The Shadow Of the Colossus Indigo Prophecy Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory GUN Hitman: Contracts God of War 1 or 2 The Shadow of the Colossus is probably the one I would recommend over everything, it's one of the most unique and beautiful games I had ever played. Indigo Prophecy is an incredibly unique game, however there's not much there gameplay wise, you use the analogue sticks to control the character, then do these simon says button matching sequences. While the gameplay may not be the most exciting the story is well thought out and the characters are likable and well developed. The God of War series is by far one of the best things to come to the playstation console and I am a little upset that I can't play GOW3 due to my decision to purchase an Xbox, but at least I got to experience the first two. The combat is top notch and the inclusion of Greek Mythology is a bonus for geeks like me. Honestly pick up the first one if you can find it. GUN is essentially Grand Theft Auto but back in the 1800's. Great voice acting (Ron Pearlman, Kris Kristofersen, Thomas Jane, Lance Henrikson) and extremely fun gun play. Only real complaint is that the game is relatively short, you could easily finish the storyline in a day or two and beat it 100% in less then a week. |
Thanks! I've seen friends play God Of War before, definitely looks like something I could get into. I'll look out for the other games you listed as well. Much appreciated.

I wish the whole designing aspect was better. Building your own level is impossible. At least for me. |

Words cannot describe how entertaining this game is. |
^I'm not gonna lie, I think that was one of the worst games I've ever played.
|
Funny, I thought the same thing when I played Halo.
|
hahaha what?
|
Halo is a bit 'meh'. If it was a PC only game then it wouldnt have done well. It's only because it was the first semi-decent game of its genre to hit consoles
|
Yeah, the Halo series has never really set my soul on fire.
|
Am I missing something? What does halo have to do with Painkiller?
|
im obsessed with littlebig planet just now, its not a kiddies one, its really quite hard :(:P

Left 4 Dead is one of those games you play with some buddies, nothing else. They put a single player on their because well they had too, you can't have a multiplayer only game. Each scenario is supposed to play like a cheesy zombie movie, which is why you have the movie like poster at each load screen with each player playing a character. I can't believe you're complaining about story, it's a zombie shoot up game. You and 3 other people are just trying to get the hell out of there. They didn't add any bullshit because there is absolutely no need for it. And there is a difficulty curve, it's called the director. The game will unleash hordes or zombies on you depending on how well you're progress making things harder or easier, so you won't have the exact same experience twice. Besides there are different difficulty settings. I doubt you've actually played the game before.
|
Yeah, i never thought Left 4 Dead was all that fun either.
They should focus on getting half life episode 3 out. |

I pre-ordered that GI Joe game just for the comic basically because I knew the game itself wasn't going to be good but I got it anyways.
I'm still frustratingly attempting to play it. They really screwed the pooch on the camera work. I need to get Fat Princess soon. I've been hearing so many good things about it. |
What is everyone's thoughts on the new 360 update? I really like some of the stuff, like now you can browse and add movies too your instant queue on nextflix and even watch movies with friends, in a MST3K way. The new stuff for the avatars is great, but making us pay real money for digital clothing is ridiculous.
|
I stopped playing my 360 when mostly all of the games that I gave 2 shits about could only be played fully after paying for download content. Games are expensive enough as it is. I used to play Halo 2 a lot online, and as soon as a new map pack came out, it used to divide the online community completely.
|
I agree with you. I'm about 4 map packs away from being able to play halo 3. Sure they become free over time, but you feel like youre missing out when you don't have everything. And it does become a pain in the ass when youre playing with a friend and you don't have something they have or vice versa, so it cuts down on what you can do. But DLC can also be good, it expends on the game experience and some of them are really good. Sometimes DLC is worth the money and sometimes it's just bullshit.
|
I agree that sometimes it can be good, I think it just majorly depends on if it affects your overall experience of the game or if it's just a nice little add-on that you wouldn't mind buying. For instance, I can understand that hardcore beat-em up fans who love to collect all the costumes for their favourite character in their favourite franchise wouldn't mind paying for particularly fancy downloadable costumes - but I think it would be wrong to have extra characters available for download, because this would affect the whole mechanics of the game.
I used to enjoy playing online, I wasn't a nut for it or anything but a lot of my friends also had Xbox live so it was cool to be able to just unwind on a weeknight with Halo 3. But eventually you felt like you were so far behind with the extra map packs that it ruined the experience for me, so I sold Halo 3, my 360 was pushed to the side and I bought a Nintendo Wii, which doesn't suffer from any of these failings because it has the worst online capabilities I have ever seen. |

Sure it's a shameless GTA clone, but it's still a bunch of good fun. The graphics are more cartoony than realistic and the humor in the game (especially in the radio stations) aren't very funny and the music selections are pretty dull but the gameplay is good fun. Where GTA4 was more about realism Saints Row is about things most people want from open world games. Cars that handle well and don't get smashed up every time you bump into a traffic cone and fun character customization, and being able to go around fucking peoples shit up I can see why Yahtzee prefers it to GTA4. |
Astro Boy for the GBA, awesome little game from Treasure and Sega, part platformer, part beat em up and part shoot em up, and in typical Treasure fashion, a LOT of boss battles.
Like a lot of Treasure games there's a lot of variety as well as some really chalenging gameplay and colorful graphics. Great stuff. |

I don't mind map packs and stuff at all, I wish more of the games I have would have downloadable content. |
