Super Mario Galaxy

I only have 20 something stars left to get as Luigi and then I can finally beat this damn thing.

You know those prankster comet levels that were a bitch to play as Mario? Well they're even worse with Luigi, guy walks like he's constantly stepping on banana peels.

Alfred 02-14-2009 09:56 PM

Hah, I just got that game a little while ago. I've only beat the first Galaxy so far... I think I'm gonna spend many hours on this one.

I'm playing so many games at once. I almost beat Medal Of Honor: Heroes 2 (on easy) last week, except there's this stupid fucking place on the last mission that I can't get past. I'm slowly completing Metroid Prime 3, but I need at least two hours per sitting. Call Of Duty 5 has been the main game I've been playing at the moment, particularly the online, though I haven't beat the campaign yet.

Then there's the DS where I need to get back to Age Of Empires: Mythologies where I've almost completed the Egyptian campaign, and there's Brothers In Arms DS which I'm nowhere near done.

The only game that I plan to buy any time in the near future is The Conduit.

It's such a great game. Everything about it, the replay value, the variety, the level design and the visuals, and the music.

Anyway, I only have 10 stars left to collect as Luigi, and boy are they hard.

Most of them are the damn Cosmic race stages, Luigi can't run for sh*t. And those purple coin stages are even harder, especially the ones with a time limit.

Alfred 02-14-2009 10:18 PM

I really fail at falling into black holes on the smaller planets. :(

pourmeanother 02-14-2009 11:15 PM

I'm playing Mario 3 for SNES. I can beat this in 30 minutos. Level 1, warp whistle... small castle, warp whistle 2... go to last land, then kick asss to get to bowsa.

One of my big regrets is selling my OG gameboy for $15 at a garage sale a handful of years ago. Definitely should have hung onto that thing at least for the sake of nostalgia.

Warp whistles are for pussies.

pourmeanother 02-14-2009 11:42 PM

Don't even get me started... warp whistles are so far from pussy. It's just taking advantage of technology. If we have the ability to clone a goat shouldn't we do ittt!?!??!

Also, Mario 3 is not an SNES game?

I agree that finishing the game with flutes and strategic use of power-tails should the going get rough is just plain old boring.

I just started playing Left 4 Dead, Valve's new zombie-crisis FPS game in which you play one of 4 survivors who have to fight hordes of zombies on the way from safe point to safe point. While I still have only played the 1p campaign, it focuses heavily on multiplayer .. so far it's been good!

.. And I wish I hadn't sold my Commodore 64 and all my games.

It was remade for the SNES, part of the Super Mario All Stars compilation, remakes of the 4 NES Mario Bros games.

I use them only when theres a certain world I want to play and don't want to go all the way through, but otherwise it's like opening a book and going straight to the ending. Wheres the purpose in that?

I do this as well .. World 2 (pyramids and desert) is overplayed and world 3, the waterworld, is awful! I sometimes use flutes to skip those.

boo boo 02-15-2009 07:11 AM

Wuh? What's wrong with waterworld? I love it, everyone complains about water levels but in the Mario games they're very well done. The levels where big bertha is chasing after you are f*cking awesome.

Only world in SMB3 I don't like is 8, crazy hard.

Alfred 02-15-2009 11:13 AM

Hey boo boo, what are your impressions on this new game The Conduit?

At Sixes and Sevens 02-15-2009 03:18 PM

Not playing it right at the moment, but Left 4 Dead is in my 360 right now. Very fun game but not very in depth.

1ib. 02-15-2009 05:10 PM

Winning Eleven 2009
Killzone 2 demo lol

jacklovezhimself 02-15-2009 06:21 PM

I just finished Assassin's Creed.
The ending was disappointing and I never really appreciated the game until towards the end but it was fun as hell none the less.

Guybrush 02-16-2009 08:06 AM

Not sure why I don't like world 3 .. It may have something to do with chances of instant death, what I think are slightly boring levels and the interrupted flow of the game that comes from getting in and out of water and skipping around in that frog suit. It's not the swimming (underwater) levels I don't like, It's the other ones.

I've been playing more Left 4 Dead and the game got like several times better once I got some friends on and started playing co-op with them. It's a blast! :D

It gets a lot more immersive when you're doing it with your friends or, at least, other people. 1P campaign can't compare.

FreddeGredde 02-16-2009 03:14 PM

Still playing Super Smash Bros Brawl a lot. Mainly because I don't have time to play for hours every day, and also because there just aren't any new games I'm interested in. It's all sci-fi and shooters and guns. :P

And naturally because it's still great fun to play, and online works really well with my friends. ^^

Janszoon 02-16-2009 03:31 PM

I rented Okami a couple days ago, I haven't had a chance to play it too much but it's definitely one of the most artistically rendered games I've ever seen. So far I've found some of the brush stuff a little frustrating though.

boo boo 02-17-2009 06:52 AM

Yeah me too, it takes some getting used to and those timed sequences were especially a pain, but it's still an incredibly fun game. And beautiful graphics too.

coryallen2 02-17-2009 06:55 AM

i heard left 4 dead was crazy...
me and my friends tried to beat horde on gears this weekend

boo boo 02-17-2009 08:44 AM

Woohoo, I finally did it, collected all 242 stars.

I'm teh Mario master.

sweet_nothing 02-17-2009 09:49 PM

GTA 4: The Lost and the Damned
Sweet DLC

Akira 02-17-2009 09:52 PM

^^I'm only interested in the Chopper vs Chopper, that any good?

Double X 02-18-2009 07:31 AM

Just found this game - Roman Total War

Greatest game ever. Seriously. And there is some 18th century one coming out in a few months.

Akira 02-18-2009 07:41 AM

Aye, Empire:Total War is out beginning of March. I've pre-ordered and I'm looking forward to it. I love Medieval 2 and I started out with Shogun when it came out.

Yeh its fun, but I'm surprised that the game its self is actually really good. The story kinda intertwines with Niko's, but not alot. The new weapons are fun I love the sawed off shotgun and semi automatic pistol. New songs on the radio, overall worth the money.

Rob-Boy 02-21-2009 04:38 PM

Fallout 3. Again. Sigh.

FaSho 02-21-2009 04:38 PM

the Halo Wars demo is amazing. I'm definatley getting this game.

Alfred 02-21-2009 04:40 PM

Super Mario Galaxy is so haaaaarrrrddddd.

Actually it might be the easiest Mario game ever. But those prankster comets are a real bitch, especially as Luigi.

Alfred 02-21-2009 10:48 PM

Exactly that, the prankster comets. The rest is pretty simple.

But I finally beat the race with the hologram Mario in the Honeyhive Galaxy. I discovered that it's easier to do it without the stupid flip jump thing.

I'm now up to 19 stars, behind my little 4th grade brother who has 20. Damn him.

WolfAtTheDoor 02-23-2009 05:32 PM

Dusted off the Wii today...

picked up Legend of Zelda, spent a bit of time on that, not very far but it seems okay so far - graphics are waaaaaaay poor though. I was expecting it to look great on a next gen console but then found out that it's just a port of a Gamecube title... bag of bollocks.

had a quick go at super smash bros with the girlfriend

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then she had a go on animal crossing, which I have now taken over from while she was gone... it was some weird sort of festival day on there today with this pea**** that needed some candy or something... i had to play pretend football with this mouse, got three pieces of candy and then the pea**** gave me a cupboard... i ****ing love this game.

Alfred 02-23-2009 06:10 PM

Wii definitely has improved graphics compared to last gen, but it's not up there with the ps3 and 360.

Janszoon 02-23-2009 07:49 PM

I got House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for my Wii last week. Both games are super fun; my wife and I have been playing it a lot ever since.

nah it's completely blown out of the water by them two in terms of graphics. Though Playstation 3 just hasn't appealed to me, and I sold my 360 for the Wii because it seemed like a lot of good games were coming for it... but alas, they are mostly just rehashes of old gamecube games :(

completely disappointed by the sheer amount of controllers you have to have aswell. Playing Mario Kart on the ****ty little wii remote shoved into the wheel is awful, and to get the most out of it I have to go out and rebuy a gamecube controller? In fact, 4 gamecube controllers, as the only point of Mario Kart is to play with friends anyway... and no one likes pretending to steer.

more actual new games for the wii please.

oh, and in other news, I sold the cupboard and some other furniture and have now paid my mortgage in animal crossing which means that i get... a basement. anti climax of the century.
