funny story. this past week, of all weeks, i get pegged for extra hours at work, can't really say no since i can use the cash. so i work until mid afternoon, get home then head to the store to collect my pre-order. get home again, start installing, then a buddy messages me and he's all like - DUDE! i just scored a free ticket to the Testament / Megadeth / Slayer show tonight!

ok, cool, congrats, i've got SC2 instead. so i figure he'll stop by on the way to the show to smoke a power up, and sure enough a few minutes later i get a buzz at the door and there he is.... did you get my last message? (msn has been flaky lately) so no i hadn't. he had two free tickets to the show.

so on the first day the game i waited 13 years to play, i got my groove on with Testament, sang along to Peace Sells with Mustaine, and had a great view of Lombardo just FLYING through the Abyss.

i do not at all regret not playing SC2 until the day after it finally came out.
I wish it wasn't only the terrain campaign. They were always the lamest, had to make all those ****ing supply depots and ****.

Source. I refused to play it for the longest time; 1.6 was where it was at. One weekend, it was on sale for 5 bucks and I figured it was about time for me to give Valve the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah I'm not really happy with Blizzard breaking up each of the campaigns into separate games. We waited 12 years for a game, not just a campaign

It's just a shame that Blizzard are one of the few companies that we allow to get away with stuff like this.

Definitely not, with the money that cash cow is bringing in... However with any luck the expansion packs will be released sometime within the next six months, or at least one of them. I find it hard to believe that in 12 years all they managed to do was one campaign. Blizzard must be pretty busy right now working on Cataclysm and Diablo III.

Speaking of episodic gaming, god dammit Valve where is my Half-Life 2: Episode 3????

Its easy to **** on Blizzard because they can seem highly capitalist and the Activision buyout was a bad sign for quite a few of us.

But I think they still try to do whats best for the most people. I wouldn't blame them so much as I'd blame modern culture. 15 years ago videogames were for nerds that never grew up, and younger nerds. Playstation sees an opening in the adult market and blows the roof off the place.

WoW's recent expansion sucked some monster ass. I'll give you that. I loved that game for the last 6 years but these days its killing me slowly.

With Starcraft, this new version was like their Chinese Democracy. 12 years and a ****load of pressure. I think they're doing whats right here, and I'll reserve judgment for the final and total game.

That being said, the Terran as the best race in the game. Suck on it, or I'll nuke your ass.

Keep in mind a few things about the original Starcraft.

1. It wasn't the perfect gem it is today when it was released.

2. There was no pressure for it to be good.

3. They worked on that game for 5 years before they released it.

4. After 5 years of work, they didn't jump right back in. They probably gave that team another 5 years of a break. I can't even imagine tweaking something that has no precedent for 5 long years. I'd need a break too if I had to do that.

Also keep in mind it's 60 bucks for this one campaign, what if they other two are just as expensive? Then it's 180 dollars for one game. No game is worth 180 dollars.

i don't have a huge problem with the episodic stuff. the campaign on this has like 26-28 levels so say about 90 missions total. i wonder if the expansions are going to be cheaper. or maybe they will add new multiplayer modes or something. would be kinda lame to pay $60 just for some missions. i bet they stretch it out though. next xpac at least a year off.

and i have been meaning to play HL2: e1 + e2 for a few years now(since i got orange box). i loved half life 2. probably the best adventure shooter i have ever played. so many awesome levels.
