Having not found it too scary since the opening journey from your car into silent hill, I've just arrived at the 'alternate' hospital **** IS STARTING TO GET REAL.

I've just turned it off in frustration though, having spunked loads of ammo and health kits/drinks. I'll have to go from a previous save and be a bit more er. . conservative.
While the gameplay isn't the same as Silent Hill 2 I think you might enjoy the game Sanitarium. It has a heavy psychological focus, something Silent Hill 2 pulled off beautifully. Also if you have a newer computer, you might want to look up the game Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a new indie horror game that is suppose to be really good. I wanted to try it, but neither my laptop or desktop are able to handle the graphics.

Yeah, I know you're supposed to go into the house but it doesn't help me much. I still die every time.

Go upstairs and get the shotgun! You're missing out on a massive experience if you can't get past the first village holdout.

Yeah, I've already played through that one and a half times (second time round I gave up on the bit where you 're riding on the back of the truck as i'd royally spunked my ammo. Seems to be a habit.)

It's a classic. Although I would say Silent Hill 2 is scarier, Resi 4 is better for action and has some great set pieces.

Never heard of Sanitarium. Is it PC? If so it's not an option cos my old desktop can barely handle this site.

Yeah the psychological aspect of Silent Hill is spot on. I've yet to discover what the creepy little girl is about, but she's er. . . creepy. That bit where you find her in the hospital, and she says she's got a letter for you from Mary - I was almost shouting at my TV, trying to reach James and tell him DON'T ENTER THE ROOM YOU PRAT! .

Which version are you playing?

Don't corner yourself, its actually easier if you don't go into that house in the village. The chainsaw guy will never appear if you don't go inside that house.

Resident evil 4 is all about space, the dudes are so so slow you can usually run around them or juke threw the hord. If not, shoot knees and do kicks/punches, usually gets the whole group to fall back.

Black Ops next week

From what I remember I was getting killed whether I went into the house or not. It's been several months since I played the game though.

Edit: This thread actually inspired me to give the game another try this evening. I still get stuck at the same spot. Maybe if I knew what "juke threw the hord" meant I could get through this section.

IIRC, the first village scene is totally scripted anyway. After a certain period of time has elapsed, the bell tolls and all the villagers go away. But maybe I'm wrong.

@matious: don't buy it! MW2 taught me a lesson: Activision totally sucks bawlz and milks all of their franchises to the extreme. (See: Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, and now COD)

If anyone's looking for a good Horror Action-type game, I recommend Dead Space. The soundtrack is just perfect for the type of game it is. It's the only horror game that I've actually went back and played multiple times.
