As for my favorite levels, I really liked the Battlerock Galaxy. Hey, Janszoon, have you beat "Rocky Road" yet?

I liked Battle Rock galaxy a lot too. The first level of it in particular was really cool. I loved those steel saucers. |

it's half past 3 in the morning, ive been ill all day (too ill to abuse a house party.) and all i've been doing is vegetating in bed, playing mario kart wii and super smash bros brawl.
I've unlocked everything in Brawl now, (obviously excluding the trophies and all the music - that would be godlike. just the character and stages) and it's a really good and enjoyable game. I disagree with what I've heard others say, that it's tedious when played on your own, as I find it challenging and rewarding to get to grips with each characters moveset. I've got to say that I was disappointed by the new stages this time around, although I seem to be the only one with this particular problem. There are just no stand out stages this time around for me - many feel like remakes of 'Battlefield', just with an added gimmick. I just find myself going back to Big Blue and Corneria. The new characters are plentiful, with Snake is particularly fun to use, when used properly. Olimar is a bit awkward, considering that attacking with him involves a lot of digging up pikmin and then throwing them - not much variation. Sonic is a surprisingly dull character, again, not much in the way of variation. Mario Kart Wii is a little bit disappointing, I've unlocked all the courses and I'm now trying to unlock Daisy and Dry Bowser. (Can't wait to unlock the mini blue falcon kart.) The courses are mostly rehashed versions of the old mario kart courses, with there only being something like 8 new additions. Much preferred Double Dash. The new drifting system is incredibly easy to get to grips with, many people have complained about this, and even though I'd mastered drifting on Double Dash, I don't particularly mind. It's just this recurring feeling of the Wii being a half arsed port of everything else Nintendo have ever done that has got me. Though, the nostalgia is spot on. It's satisfying karting around with Dry Bones and hearing that clattering noise whenever he's hit, just like in the days of Super Mario World. And the SNES Mario Circuit was also fun to race around again, just for old times sake. Though the battle mode - what the ****s with that? The 3 balloon system makes no sense when the balloons dont actually count for anything, and you can only be a part of a team. Not good at all. Oh, and I think the powerups deserve a mention here. I always hope for a more original powerup each time a Mario Kart is released, not just another variation of a shell or something along those lines. Especially with the Wii controller, you'd think there'd be some innovation going on behind the scenes. But, no, they've thrown in the Pow Block and the Squid, three completely useless items that only serve to piss everyone off. The Pow Block sends everyone on the track spinning around aimlessly, which, if your vehicle has got no acceleration, will probably leave you in last place. I usually play as Bowser, so this ****s me off no end. And the Squid, which squirts a little blob of ink over everyone on the track - the point is? Just take them out, leave the Blue Shell in if you have to, but for **** sake just take them out. I really want to see a wing-cap powerup in the next mario kart where you actually control where your kart is flying. Or maybe a fireball power-up? |
