You've set me a challenge now...

Akira 12-17-2008 06:21 AM

Lol, probably not too hard. You technically don't get any home games though. Footy Manager however, now there's a challenge with Grimsby.

No.

Are you sure your playing half life 2?
There should have been a communication of a team that was being attacked by manhacks.

I'm pretty sure there's a short jumping section along the pipes in the first room, down to a valve which you turn and the water level starts to rise. But I'm a little confused where about where you are.

I didn't even thin about the valves. That sounds exactly like where I am. Thanks.

There may have been, I had the volume really low when playing it, I missed a lot.

How is that anyway? I played some Fifa '08 earlier this year and it was fun but the controls annoyed me a bit at times.

Alpha Centauri 12-18-2008 10:06 PM

You haven't given enough info. Have you faced the combine that are all grouped together where one is controlling a turret is yet?

I felt the exact same way about it. The best Soccer game ever made was Fifa world cup 2002. No joke, such a sick game.

I did that, and it worked! Thanks.

Well i'm playing it on the Wii which i understand is a lot different to other consoles. For me its like any other Fifa; clunky, non-fluid and unresponsive. Pro Evo is where it's at.

ya_ba 12-20-2008 04:50 AM

Umm... Atm I'm mostly playing on my lovely DS :D <3
It's mostly Mario Kart/Tetris/Mario Bros and Pokemon Pearl when I get really bored.

FireInCairo 12-20-2008 04:57 AM

I got roped into world of warcraft the other day, and now i have a minor addiction...

I was always Pro Evo. I had Pro Evo last year. But I went the Fifa route this year. Pisses all over it in my opinion. I actually feel as though I can pass the ball wherever I want now with Fifa rather than try and play a through ball and end up putting it into touch.

I'm downloading F.E.A.R. and Fable: The Lost Chapters

jackhammer 12-23-2008 12:54 PM

I'm not much of a gamer but I'm getting hooked on wii sports-especially tennis. Simple monotonous games FTW

NSW 12-23-2008 01:05 PM

Love Wii bowling!

Also playing Oblivion on the 360...anyone else into RPG's?

Sparky 12-23-2008 09:08 PM

I like every non-traditional RPG

stuff like mario and luigi, fallout, oblivion, tales of symphonia

but i can't get into final fantasy or anything turn based

So many people hate on the Wii for it's line of casual games.

I say it's not Nintendo's fault if people would rather play games where they control rabbits with their asses than ANOTHER generic shooter starring a rugged space marine.

Whenever I try to play "real" games I often get bored. I have had Oblivion and DMC4on the PS for ages and havent even played on them yet. Ill probably get into them eventually.

boo boo 12-24-2008 06:45 AM

I think the golden age of video games died when Sega dropped out of the race.

Since then, with franchises like God of War and Halo leading the way, I just don't like the direction video games is taking right now, it's like every video game now has to resemble a Joul Schumacher movie, and have at least a 90% chance of being made into a crappy movie by Uwe Boll.

I think Uwe Boll is god's way of punishing us for making video games too realistic.

Akira 12-24-2008 12:50 PM

Arsing around on Mirrors edge which is good for a laugh.

sweet_nothing 12-24-2008 12:53 PM

I got tired of that game after a day, took it back and got Dead Space. ;)

boo boo 12-24-2008 02:05 PM

Mirrors Edge looks amazing, I must admit.

If only PS3 had more games with that level of originality, then I might actually be tempted to get one someday.

The concept is good, and the way you move the character (the whole jumping from roof to roof thing) is great, but the lack of freedom and the horrible single player campaign ruins it. It would have been so much better if they made it more of a sandbox style game.

boo boo 12-24-2008 05:05 PM

It has some pretty good reviews.

It seems a lot of games get criticized for not having enough freedom, whatever that means, not every game needs to be GTA.

Just from looking at it, it seems like the freedom of movement is pretty great, and the world looks huge.

I think games should be judged for what they are, not what they're not. If you want sandbox gaming, play GTA, don't expect every game to be the same or have the same content because of their genre or whatever.

Akira 12-24-2008 05:10 PM

The action is pretty linear though you can improvise quite a bit etc.

Let's hope some companies do something similar but with more freedom.

Exactly, great concept. The story sucks, and the cut scenes look like they were ripped from an e-surance commercial, also the combat system is terrible.
Hopefully they'll fix all this if they make a sequel.

boo boo 12-24-2008 05:13 PM

Well, it's certainly an excellent concept that needs to be expanded on, and the game certainly looks great.

Akira 12-24-2008 05:18 PM

Yeah the outside scenes looks so crisp, and it really is fun to play. You can still have a laugh with it after you've done the missions, plus the downloadable maps look interesting.

dac 12-24-2008 09:00 PM

I LOVE sandbox games.

Also I just downloaded a GBA emulator and I'm having mega-nostalgia with Fire Emblem and FF Tactics Advanced.

boo boo 12-25-2008 03:40 AM

I guess this is why people hate on Zelda nowadays, Nintendo sticks to tradition, but people complain about the lack of freedom in modern Zelda games.

Ironic, considering that Zelda games back in the day offered a great amount of freedom that few other games had, without Zelda sandbox gaming probably wouldn't even exist.

Though I admit, it would be great if there was a lot more to do in Hyrule, I always love the minigames and side quests in Zelda games, as well as all the goodies you can collect. But I feel that with the technology Nintendo has now, the worlds should be bigger and there should be more to do, more dungeons, more places to explore, more side quests, more minigames, more treasures, etc.

One thing that Zelda games do is padding, making it a task in itself just to travel from one place to another, now I like this, it makes the worlds few huge even though the campaign itself isn't terribly long, Wind Waker is a great example of this, and though I loved the way it made you feel like you were actually exploring a big ocean. I wish there was more actual gameplay. This is something I hope future Zelda games will expand upon.

I mean compare the size and freedom of Hyrule to Vice City or San Andreas, the Wii can handle stuff like that, it's more powerful than the PS2, Nintendo should take more advantage of the Wii's power and make a Zelda game where Hyrule is bigger than ever.

Nintendo should make a zelda game that doesn't have Hyrule, or the stereotypical zelda locales.

My favorite in the series was majora's mask, just because it was so out-there compared to the rest.

Make a steam-punk legend of zelda

They have already done that with several games. Like Link's Awakening, Marjoras Mask and the two Oracle games, Wind Waker is set in Hyrule, though an altered future version of it.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Nah, I wouldn't do that.

Mr Sensitive 12-27-2008 09:19 AM

I'd like a Zelda that's not exactly the same as all the other Zelda games. Also I want some voice acting!

Akira 12-27-2008 09:20 AM

Playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue at the mo. Still wish they'd pull their finger out and get the full game on the shelves.

nerves 12-27-2008 09:22 AM

Left 4 Dead. I am addicted to shooting zombies!
