Finally stepping out of my Borderlands 2 / X-com coma. BL2 I beat on Monday night and I still highly recommend it to anyone who even remotely enjoyed the first one.

X-com I'm just floating at the first plateau while grinding up a full squad of colonels prior to assaulting the first alien base. I have 3 of 6 colonels in reserve in my barracks, had 3 majors lined up for promotions then had a full team wipe and it's been slow going since.

I've started playing Minecraft and have the fever. Between this and Breaking Bad, I'm not sure how I'm going to get anything done.

Nostalgia is a very evil thing. Thanks to the roles of the Sonic Adventure games in my Primary School years I'm continuing to play them despite them being just plain bad. 2's been the worst offender so far- every single stupid boss fight or robot mission I get forced to do makes me feel like pulling my own brain out to stop the frustration. The Sonic/Shadow missions are great fun though.

oh, you should totally play the Sonic the Hedgehog game released for the Xbox in 2006 then, it's also known as Sonic 06. I think that you'll really like that.

Dead Island (2011)

So I got this yesterday for $7 and to be honest I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't around this price because this game has some incredibly stupid mechanics and some really strange mistakes that just reminds me I'm playing a video game. The gameplay is still addicting enough to keep plowing through, but after I've been reminded how good video game stories can be I can't help but be slightly disappointed. Big worlds can be fun to explore, but I do find that I need a story to remained invested.

I bought it not long after it came out and yeah, it was kinda cool, but it gets old fast. You kill the same mobs over and over and over and over .. I never finished it.

I love most of the earlier Assasssin's Creed games (the ones about Ezio at least) and so I had to buy nr. 3 which is just out now. I played it for the first time yesterday and although I didn't get far, I was quite impressed. Looking forward to playing it more

Problem I'm finding in the game is that it doesn't know if it wasn't to be a survival-horror, or an action-adventure game and really doesn't work that well at either genre. Mobs are too powerful for you to easily take down without wasting all my stamina, and there's still the off-chance they'll get one or two hits on me which will tear apart my health. I chose the gun specialist character because of her attitude in the opening trailer (which incidentally makes the game a little more confusing because I somehow went from a white male to a black female), but so far the guns have only been effective against the human punks in act two. I swear I shot a zombie in the head 5 times and they didn't go down, which kind of makes my character class pointless. I'm hoping my local record store will be able to fix my Way of the Samurai disk because this game is just... not that good. Oh well, at least I only paid 7 dollars for it.

Pretty sick. Raiden is a total pussy but the minimalist aesthetic and bat shit crazy story make it enjoyable even playing it for the first time now.
