Are the Saints Row games like the GTA games? Also do you have to play them all or can you jump in anywhere with them?

They seem to be a lot like GTA but just a bit more ridiculous. I started with Saints Row The Third and it seems to have it's own story. Doesn't really seem like it talks about much from the earlier games in the series, so I would say yeah, you can probably start anywhere.

I will also say that the game plays really well with a keyboard and mouse. Originally I thought I was going to need to use my PC controller, but I tried the keyboard and mouse and it's a lot better.

I also believe it was released for consoles as well, but the game was keyboard controlled with a Resident Evil style tank control scheme so it works. Personally with both the XBone and PS4 using x86 architecture I don't think there should be any reason to not release everything as multiplatform.
I've made a list of all these games to play and where possible I'm always looking for a remaster if possible and I know that these games come with all kinds of patches, I had to go down that road to get the Fallout games to play properly.

Well the reason is that I have like a million games to play and don't want to play all of the Saints Row games. Did you happen to say that you haven't yet played GTA 5? The reason I ask is that I thought that I was the only games player on the planet that still hadn't, have it but still waiting for the right moment to play it.

^I haven't played GTA V yet. I've seen people play it through lets play etc, but I don't own a copy for myself. I'm waiting for it to come on sale because I don't want to spend 60 bucks on a game that I've already seen a lot of footage on. I do want to have it for myself, but I won't pay full price. Saints Row seemed to be a good alternative because for one, the games seem to be pretty amazing from my experience so far, and they were on sale.

Can't you get these games around half price there? Most people here unless they want the game on release or quite soon after its release, wait about a couple of months and buy it cheaper or trade older games against it, this is how nearly all games shop in the high street survive here.

Well i'll be getting mine through Steam. Usually, even some of the newer games will go on sale after a couple months of it's release. That's how I got both Saints Row games for super cheap. You can go to Gamestop or something and get a used copy of the game here for like half the price probably, but I don't actually use CD-ROM's for my games. It's all based through Steam and my Steam library backs up every night, so I'll never lose anything.

Anyway, Ki, if you like the third one then you really have to check out the fourth one (if you haven't already).
Yes. There is a dildo bat. That does not invalidate an entire game. If it did, then San Andreas would be a pile of **** as well.

They're pretty much complete ripoffs. The differences are in the tone and the humor. Even at its most absurd, GTA still had a story that it took at least moderately seriously, where as Saints Row was always purely tongue-in-cheek, and has become progressively more ridiculous, to the point where the games are now more like GTA parodies than actual clones.

You can certainly jump in pretty much anywhere, as the series isn't about intricate storytelling the way GTA is -- though as I am an OG fan who played all the games in sequence, I'd still say that starting from the beginning would give you the best appreciation for the series.

Just wait. They gradually became more ridiculous than GTA as the games progressed, but at a point I will not specify in 3, the series goes completely bonkers and puts GTA to shame in that regard. And 4 is just one of the most bizarre games I have ever played.

^San Andreas is one of the best GTA games that I've ever played. And yeah, I'm definitely not regretting getting Saints Row. I feel like i'll be putting plenty of hours into both games. I've been playing Saints Row The Third pretty much all day today.

I've beaten 3 and 4 so many times in the past year that I know them like the back of my hand. Another thing in Saints Rows' favor is how much you can customize your characters. You aren't limited to be a stock character (I have created a convincing Harley Quinn, Joker, and She-Hulk), the clothing options are far more diverse, and the cars... oh man, the cars.

I got a huge DLC pack with my purchase of 3, and man...when I got to my first "crib" there were soooooo many options. I have this badass tiger motorcycle that I ride around and it's such a blast. You're right though, the customization is unbelievable. I love the fact that I can make my guy sound like a zombie and not actually say anything but "groan" and "raaaaa".
