I say go for it. The story won't make any more or less sense if you just jump in.

I'm assuming you don't play on Insanity. Pistol is beast, but if I tried that **** throughout the game, it would be a very long game.

Choose the Infiltrator class and then take the sniper rifle upgrade. Tactical Cloak + Widow = brain splatter. Or be a man and choose Vanguard and the shotgun upgrade. Nothing quite like teleporting right next to a mother****er and one-hitting him with a Claymore shotgun round to the face, and then repeating the process as needed.

I know the story is kind of piecemeal and you have to kind of put it together yourself.

No, but I would recommend getting the Scholar of the First Sin version of Dark Souls II. It's like a fancy Game of the Year edition but with switched up enemy locations.

I would still totally recommend playing Dark Souls 1 though, it's an amazing experience. I'm actually crushed because I can't get my copy to work anymore regardless of what I do.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Picked this up for 17$ on Steam and i'm nearly already an hour into playing it. I've heard great things about this game so i'm happy I finally get to play it. It's worth the money I spent and it's probably worth the full retail price as well. The whole open world aspect is awesome, and the graphics mixed with the tight controls are also very nicely done. I see why this game did so well.

Noted for Dark Souls II, but may give Dark Souls I a miss as I've seen it's a long game to play and I've got a whole load of games lined up to play on PS4.

This is one of the games I've got lined up when I get my PS4 in November, along with similiar games like Witcher 3 and Dark Souls II. I've also got games like Wasteland 2 and Fallout 4 lined up, hell knows how long it will take me to play all of these.

It's a lot of fun. I just played about another hour and I am already sucked into it. You'll have a blast when you play it.

Well I've always been a Tolkien nut and still have a bad habit of comparing every fantasy world to that of Tolkien's, so something that is actually in Tolkien's world will always appeal to me.

I'm always sceptical of game/film tie-ins as most are usually average to bad, but with you mentioning this and its high reviews, and The Batlord constantly having an orgasm when he talks about Alien, both are on my list.

The original Dark Souls is arguably last generations greatest game, and far superior to the sequel. Your choice, of course, but you'll be missing out on an atmospheric masterpiece.
