I read "A Death in the Family" and "Killing Joke" to death when I was a kid. 1988. 8th grade.

No wonder you're who you are.

The first two volumes of Grant Morrison's Batman run finally came in the mail and I am ****ing stoked. Grant Morrison is an unadulterated god and wrote the series for 7 years so there's a lot of stuff to get into. He basically was modern Batman until Scott Snyder took over with the New 52 in 2011 and Morrison still stayed on for a side title. You get the introduction of Damian Wayne, Batman ****ing dying, Dick Grayson taking over the mantle, along with the connection to Final Crisis which Morrison also wrote. I even have The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul that falls in-between these two books but wasn't written by Morrison personally. So much Batman to read.

^Way cooler than that crap you posted in the socialism thread. :D
I was waiting for my friend to get some Indian food for dinner so I wondered into Nerdvana and found this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...th_Love_01.jpg Seemed cool while doing a quick flip through. It's the first comic I ever bought that wasn't on Amazon. Hell it's the first time Ive ever browsed comics in a store. |
So Batman's cool, huh?
|
No, the artwork and joker kicking his asss is though.

What happens when a superhero's powers become too much and they lose their ability to be here and now with the rest of the world? Eternity Girl apparently. Two issues in and I'm thinking way too much about myself and my place in the world.
Spoiler for big ass pics:

Luthor was already President actually. Didn't end well.

Not sure if "soap opera goodness" and "sexual tension" are really the phrases I want used to describe the comic books I read. If I want "soap opera goodness"...I'll watch a soap opera. As for "sexual tension", if I want that....I'll watch any sitcom ever. |

I started reading Spawn. I started a while ago and stopped around the time the ice cream guy goes to hell, but I started again. I enjoy it though sometimes there's a bit of cringe. Like, is it really this common for villains or thugs to be stereotypes and completely unrealistic? I listened to ICP through out my youth though, so it's not so bad. I also hate the censorship. Dude's a spawn from hell and avoids swear words. Minor gripes.

The Ani-Men are just the worst.

Does that mean you're going to do a hilarious breakdown of an Ani-Men comic? Like in the old days.
|
They're a super villain team who as far as I can tell never caught on. Aside from this comic the only appearance I've seen was in a 70s X-Men comic under the leadership of "Count Nefaria".

I'm not sure which I like better: Iron Man on rocket skates, or that his supple buttocks is ribbed for her pleasure.

I am into retro comics more so, but I do try to keep up with the more recent stuff.
What I like about older comics is that they are very much a product of the time period in which they are written many times. One of the taglines of a one I was looking at: "Captain Marvel, Jr. sinks the Japs!" |
All those whiny nerds who went into a froth at the thought of a woman Thor must not have been reading modern Thor under Jason Aaron or they would have known that no matter how big Thor's tits might have grown they couldn't distract from merry carnage such as this.

I hate the Diversity and Comics crowd. They're not mad about comics being overly political, they're just mad that liberals have a voice.

Lady Thor = best Thor |
Jason Aaron can do no wrong with Thor. As far as I can tell whatever his initial thoughts on Marvel's editorial edict to give Mjolnir to a woman he seems to have sided with her against the dickbag fanboys and happily melded feminism with the all the environmentalism and criticism of American politics fairly well thematically. The Mighty Thor is the anti-Trump while still being a glorious sci-fi/fantasy epic.
