Overated Films

^ It was overrated by the media. There was such a hype before its release, cinematography wise. Of course for an Australian it should be more interesting, but I think the movie was made for non-Australians to get mesmerized by the country. And I think Hugh Jackman played a big role in the corniness of the movie. lol

Anyway, I think the extreme romanticism in "Moulin Rouge" was in its place, cause they are in Theater [in the plot] /Musical [the movie as a whole]. But in Australia, it got a bit nauseating. .... C'mon! it's 3 hours for God's sake!

Ah yes, I'd have to agree that the media definitely hyped it up. Actually I'm really surprised that it even made it into the mainstream media overseas?! Interesting.

Of course Australians can appreciate it more but even as an Australian it was very corny... Hugh Jackman's lines were just terrible; I needed a bucket most of the time. But like I said... very typical of Luhrmann and his obsession with romanticism so I basically accepted it.

It got a hype, not because of the story [and other than Jackman and Kidman were shooting a movie together]. It was about a new filming technique the cinematographer was using, and some new technology in Kodak films used for the first time in that movie. So it was basically only for the aesthetics of the movie, which weren't that great.

I think it got here more interest than any other country in the globe cause here everyone idolizes Nicole Kidman. It's really freaky.

Ah I see, fair enough. I wasn't even aware of that new filming technique... it was overhyped here for obvious reasons, mainly that everybody loves Hugh Jackman. Nicole Kidman idolisation is quite freaky indeed; most people here hate her.

Shawshank Redemption. It's such a neutral movie. I actually forgot it the moment it finished.

Taxi Driver
and
Apocalypse Now

I couldn't finish Taxi Driver. I despised the main character and it was really boring.

Apocalypse Now put me to sleep about two hours in. Very boring.
