Favorite Animated Films?

I couldn't find a thread like this already made so hopefully this won't get shut down

This is the place to post some of your favorite animated movies that you have seen. Feel free to include descriptions and even reviews

I'll start it off with some of mine:

http://www.henrysheehan.com/reviews/...rited-away.jpg

I love Spirited Away. It has a magical, ethereal feel to it throughout. Even though the story hardly makes sense (and that's part of the magic) it just flows beautifully. The characters, the animation, everything is perfect. Watch it, if you haven't seen it. 10/10

This movie is very different from Spirited Away, but still great. Not your normal "robot from space" story, this one is endearing and still not sappy. Vin Diesel's best performance comes in this movie, as only a few grunts from the robot. I suggest you watch this fil if you haven't seen it. 9/10

My sister used to watch that ALL of the time. It got to the point we all knew the words.

FaSho 10-07-2009 07:57 PM

Only one animated movie I would put in my top 10:

And my next favorite would probably be:
http://screenrant.com/images/wall-e-poster3.jpg

NumberNineDream 10-07-2009 08:00 PM

though it's a political movie, being an animation helped the director to sink more and more in the psychological side of the movie, which is the main story after all. The dream sequences are impeccable and the original soundtrack is pretty catchy.

I love Wall-e.

I've been wanting to see that for a while, it looks really good.

Thanks Dr. Seussicide

The big images are too much for me to handle.

It is! and the best part is, it's not biased. You can't feel it's a political propaganda movie.

PWND

And the big images are cool

storymilo 10-07-2009 08:43 PM

Oh I forgot one. For the Southpark fans like me out there:

Just... unbelievable. It's absurd. Ridiculous. Inappropriate. And incredibly awesome. 8.5/10

Here's.. a little taster:

Not for everyone, I know, but I love it

NumberNineDream 10-07-2009 08:48 PM

^ I wanted to say SP, but I do prefer the second one: IMAGINATIONLAND

http://media.movieweb.com/prod/v/d/h...ajsYMvdh_l.jpg

^that thing is truly genius.

storymilo 10-07-2009 08:51 PM

Well that one's surely good, but I consider the other one more of a "movie", because Imaginationland was just a combination of three episodes.

But yeah, my favorite part of Imaginationland is when they meet the satanic woodland critters from "A Woodland Critter Christmas"

Also, did you see the new Southpark episode?

That movie seems great, but I never found it anywhere. Don't think I'll be able to watch it.

That's too bad, they're pretty good. Have you been here before? South Park Studios

What was that last choice of yours Lateralus? The picture didn't show for me.

Did you see that link? You can watch every episode there.

Nightmare Before Christmas is another movie I've been wanting to see (there's a lot, trust me)

Yeah I know, but I got a really bad Internet connection. I actually bought the 11 seasons coffret for only 25$, so it's quasi free :P.

I've seen the other two and that is some trippy shit. I couldn't really believe that Coraline was a children's movie.

Tim Burton is great to be sure, but I haven't even seen what looks like his best stuff (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, both Batman movies)

NumberNineDream 10-07-2009 09:17 PM

This!

Coraline isn't actually a Tim Burton movie, though it certainly looks and feels like one. It's without a doubt one of the most f*cked up (and thus awesome) kids films ever made.

The claymation work on Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline and James and the Giant Peach was all done by Henry Selick. Who is pretty much the claymation equivalent of Miyazaki and one of my favorite animators.

Do you know who did the claymation in Wallace & Gromit? That stuff is genius

Arya Stark 10-07-2009 09:22 PM

Selick =/= Miyazaki.

I'm not saying he's equal to him, I'm just saying that what Miyazaki does for Japanese animation, Selick does for stop motion.

It's unfair to actually compare them, since Selick has only made 4 movies, the other one being the godawful Monkeybone.

Actually I did see part of Princess Mononoke, and though it was good, I had to leave for something else and didn't get to finish

Anyone else seen this? It's not extremely well known compared to a lot of other animated movies
