Having NOT read the books, I found it very disorienting with all these other characters seemingly brought in from nowhere. I had no idea who Stannis was, what was going on with the "red witch" at the beginning, lost track of who was on the run from who, who hated/loved who, and spent more time trying to figure out what was going on than actually watching it. That's probably my fault, but surely not everyone who watched this has read the books? It's VERY involved.

I did however feel sorry for Tyrion; he was the only one who had the balls to go out and face the invaders, while the "king" cowered behind the city walls with the women. And did he get any recognition or thanks for it? No, they stripped him of the position he had held (did a Hand Job on him?) and threw him basically in a cell. Ungrateful cnuts! I really grew to like that guy as the series wound on.

Not quite so viscerally violent this season I found --- I still remember the horse's head being chopped off --- wonder if HBO were asked to tone it down? Even the "previously on..." inserts had certain words not just bleeped, but missing entirely, presumably in case they went out at the wrong time? Strange though, as the episode that followed it would then have all the "bad words" left in.

But damn! I had hoped that little stain Joffrey was going to die! You mean I now have to wait months again to see his scummy little head on a spike???

Years, probably.

Also, I really really want more about Rhaegar/Lyanna. I don't think he raped her at all, but Robert put out that story to salvage his pride

seeing how the show is, it would make sense if they dragged it out, it's not a show that's really known for delivering instant satisfaction to the audience. that's what separates it from most shows of it's genre, the lack of "justice" doled out and the brutality that it approaches everything.

I kind of really hope that's not the angle he's going, I don't really like the idea of waiting 12-years to finally have confirmed something I had figured out long before.

thank the gods that they have decided to bring The Reeds into this....by far they are two of my favorite characters...i was really bummed out when it seemed that they were completely out of the tv series.....and yes i think those two will do just fine

About 70 pages into Storm of Swords now. Pretty much everyone seems to say this is the best book so I'm pretty excited for this.

I kind of dreaded the Dany chapters in the first book, but I thought they were great in the second, even though there didn't seem to be that much action in them besides the House of the Undying. Same goes for Jon, but I was very intrigued by his chapters as well.

It seemed like Tyrion had half of the chapters in CoK, which I didn't mind because he's probably the most interesting and diverse character to read. I find that it was mainly with the Catelyn chapters that it sort of became a chore to read at times, mainly because she does not stop whining or worrying. She's easily one of my least favourite characters in the series. The Arya chapters were kind of meh as well, but they started to come around later on.
