have to admit it's all about south Africa now.....i think i would die if i saw a shark breach right in front of me

^=me dead

$10,000?! That's insane! Over here in Australia it's about $400 to go cage diving with Great Whites :) That includes an hour long cage dive and equipment, gear hire, everything. I really want to do it one day.

it was years ago and i'm positive included everything for me....ie travel from the states, hotel, dive and equipment

Ahhh, that's fair enough. Still a lot of money! Over here $400 includes equipment and everything, but you'd have to get to Australia first (for me, that's not a problem, so I wouldn't have to pay for accommodation or flights ;))

That's funny, I was actually going to say the Nurse Shark for the simple fact that I can pet it at the aquarium.

Also I like big sharks. Maybe you'll remember which one I'm thinking of, bob, but I love the one in the program where they were trying to put a camera on its fin! Not the one where they stalk it, but another one where it was just a painless clip... Do you remember that one? It was SOOOO much bigger than the boat!

I was reading something on Cracked today about that Megalodon documentary causing some controversy for idiots thinking it's true. Discovery or Animal Planet did something a little while ago with a fake mermaid documentary, but these things also seem to get the highest ratings so I can't really begrudge the network for milking them.

As for my favorite shark, I'm with bob, I've always liked makos, or at least ever since I saw Deep Blue Sea and was more frightened of them than the great whites from the Jaws series.

In a side note, who's everyone's favorite street shark? Mine's Big Slammu the Whale Shark.

Yeah i was just talking about the Mermaid documentary, I wish it was real D:

personally my favorite shark is the Mako...../it is simply amazing....like i said it has problem solving intelligence, has been clocked at 46 mph (but they think is can swim as fast as 68) often jumps over 9 feet in the air and has been known to jump onto boats and bite people fishing it

it's big but not in comparison to its much larger brothers.....average around 10 feet and its very aggressive....and again fucking fast
http://www.oceanwideimages.com/image...43M2661-39.jpg
^just imagine this coming at you at 40 mph

it is a deep sea fish and it's colors represent the deep ocean....a dark shimmering blue on top and fatal white on bottom

it's tail is more like a tuna than a shark....which makes it swim at the speeds it can reach

and again when it is not successful it will try something different till it gets the results it wants....amazing

unfortunately it is also one of the most prized sharks for human consumption and is a favorite for deep sea fisherman

Its really a big shame that sharks in general have been maligned by utter nonsense and fear mongering. In the Ocean they're truly a beautiful thing to watch. I've certainly seen my share both diving in Mexico and Surfing throughout California. In general its tended to be Tigers, Lemons and plenty of Nurse Sharks. I've never encountered one that would even keep interest after discovering I was human. I think the only danger is the diminishing of their food source. In California its typically seen as a Northern California issue but a few spots i've frequented in So-Cal most notably Solana Beach recently have been sites where people have died due to injuries. The closest i've ever been was a diving trip with my father as a teen. We were diving a reef in baja and came up on a school of hammerheads that exceeded 20 sharks. Was amazing to watch but my balls were in my stomach the entire time. If I were to die from injuries due to a shark I would consider it an honor, one of the most majestic things on the planet.

Oh god, I'd forgotten about that. Wasn't that just a ripoff of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I even remember there being a part on the pilot where their Designated Human Friend asked if they wanted pizza and they all replied that pizza sucked and demanded hamburgers.

Yes, it actually has the distinction of being the last attempt at making the TMNT lightning strike twice as Power Rangers aired a year before and that kind of took over the throne kid culture wise. To be fair though just about every animated kids show from like 1988-1994 was a TMNT knockoff. Remember Stone Protectors? Trollified TMNT.
