I liked the bits about being Iranian and a woman. The other 0% was a bit lame.

I liked the part about her mother visiting her when she was living in Brixton and arriving at her door with an 8th and a receipt, I like it all but that alone made Shappi's stand up near and dear.

Bill Burr is a good complement to Stanhope if you ain't checked him much.

Of course I have. Honestly he comes across as too much of a lame curmudgeon to really grab me. Stanhope is a curmudgeon but he's whacked out and not lame. I'd go with Bill Hicks. He's a bit hit or miss but he's such a bizarre character that he's never boring.

Bill Hicks is less funny than Jeff Dunham.

Nah you just don't realize the genius of a freak who gives no ****s about expressing himself 100% regardless of how awkward and dorky he comes across. His wardrobe is definitely silly though.

He definitely has times where I just don't laugh but when he hits he hits hard and there's really no other place to get that ****.

Carlin does it and is funny at the same time.

Carlin's material has aged better but Hicks is still funny.

Church. And Carlin is no where near the bizarre nerd freak that Hicks is. He's a spectacle with an approach that is unique and hilarious.

I prefer comedians who are more laugh with than laugh at.

He's not laugh at, he just challenges your perception of what a comic should act like. He's funny because he's in command of his weirdness, not because he doesn't realize it.

Ah so he's intentionally unfunny? That can work sometimes.

Like Francis said, his comedy has aged. With modern comics who just don't care about being as confrontational and offensive as they want to be they've kind of made Hicks just another weird curmudgeon, but if you account for that it can open up his act much like listening to a 60s or 70s album that's been copied multiple times over the years and no longer feels as special as it once did, but if you give it a real shot knowing its context you can see that the innovation comes from a place of freaknik creativity that following innovators aren't going to have because the hard work has kind of been done.

Hicks attitude and approach back in the day was anti pc and badass but nowadays his attitude is sort of a given. I personally like him cause i heard him back in the 90's with this one night stand.



Compared to the other 90's comedians i knew (Like Sinbad) Bill was on another lvl. The 80's and 90's had a lot cheesy bad comedians that made Bill look better.
