Currently trying to brush up on my SC1 so that I will be serviceable for some StarCraft either today and/or tomorrow. Anyone who wants to get in on some PVP/co-op needs to speak up so we can have some MB SC1 goodness. Anyone not into today needs to be down tomorrow or they will be declared a poseur. If you're an SC1 veteran then great, but if you're a noob then also great. No pressure to not suck. Let's do this.

Apparently GuitarBizarre did, but currently I don't know. Let's get noobs in this **** though. Or you and me (and maybe Qwerty) can just say "**** ya'll" and do this ourselves. I will teach you all that I know, and I've even been thinking about how to explain this all in-game so let's do this and learn to suck/not suck. But probably suck.

It says it's free for me. I think you're looking at StarCraft Remastered, which does cost money, but the original game is still free. Both versions are compatible with one another btw, so you don't need to upgrade to play with anyone using SC Remastered, and the actual gameplay is exactly the same, just with updated graphics.

Bro, SC1 is certainly frustrating and I will make no bones about that, but just like when you actually start learning LoL, when you start learning how to actually play SC1 it makes more sense and is way satisfying. But that learning curve is a bitch and absolutely no joke. Just trying to keep building workers, along with building production buildings, and then trying to actually control units while you're doing all of this, is god damn intimidating, and only the beginning of learning how to play, but when you actually start to get the hang of it (even just starting) it makes you feel like a badass. Even just beginning to learn is mechanically intense, but **** me is it fun.

And anyone looking to actually get into the game should check out Day9's new SC1 series of videos, as they will explain in detail how to play the game, strategies for different matchups, how to use hotkeys, and even just how to click on ****. Day9 is basically the Mister Rogers of StarCraft, is nearly as likeable, and was even an SC pro-gamer back in the day. An American pro-gamer which requires an asterisk since he's not Korean, but a pro-gamer nonetheless who's been playing for literally 19 years.

**** yeah do that. I'll explain a lot of the basics, but cheese is perfectly acceptable. I can even give you links to explain how to do a cheese build (although builds in SC1 are entirely dependent on what race you are and what race your opponent is, much like LoL I imagine, so a cheese build for Terran vs. Protoss might be completely useless for Terran vs. Zerg or Terran vs. Terran).

Oh, and one thing I will say about SC1's frustrating mechanics is that unlike pretty much every RTS game I've played, the mechanics basically sync on the whole. Building your base is meta intensive, controlling units is meta intensive, battles are meta intensive, hotkeys are meta intensive, etc, but it all is basically training you to use the same skill sets so that you are almost learning the exact same thing at the exact same time with all of them, even if the specifics are different.
