what always happens is I get sidetracked just exploring until I'm an absolute walking arsenal with super stats
and then I'm done with it, but this time I'm going to try and do the main quest because I hear it's good in New Vegas and that will let me judge better I'm building my character primarily stealthy and with points in explosives because I like one shotting enemies, the sadistic slowmo animations after you line up a rifle with the back of someones head, feels much more real than firing 10 10mm shots into something

I used to think open world games were by far the best but now I’m an adult with money and less free time I’ve grown to really appreciate a good linear experience that doesn’t throw 8,000,000 optional things to do at you

^I kind of fall in that same spot but I still love well done open world games. A lot of them can be monotonous and boring. But I also do love a linear experience just as much.
I would say that both Fallouts came out at the best time. Decent enough graphics for the time and good stories. They've definitely stood the test of time though graphically it does show age. |

I remember on release thinking omg these graphics are epic lol
my problem is the game stops being fun once you reach a certain power level so if you do the optional stuff first the main story doesn't even feel worth completing I have to also mention that the PC port for New Vegas is ****ing abysmal who designed this **** goddamn, menus aren't keybinded or nothing

having to tab into the pip boy and then mouse click to the menu you want is incredibly tedious if you've ever played a game with a proper PC port
