Hey, just wanted to drop in and say that art is amazing, i love the impressions it gives off and the extremely organic feel. Cellular formation, in all its life giving glory, which you portrayed so eloquently, and the haunting quality of (what appears to be) the quiet world going on underground-- both are extremely beautiful. My girlfriend is a lover of psychedelia as well, and her style is marked by a lot of psychedelic style ideas and style, though a little more on the surrealist portraiture style as opposed to what appears to be a more abstracted style on your behalf. Great job on that, though, and on tackling a genre that I myself consider to be music's music, when done right and with enough daring.

However! I did notice that you hadn't posted any in the Animal Collective thread, and hadn't mentioned them here yet. Are you very familiar with them? If so, sorry for being redundant, but I think anyone who likes MGMT should give them a try; I think of them as their weirder "cousins" (in the Daria sense) that don't get invited to the same parties. I've seen a lot of events go down (like the recent resurgence of an old 60's light show master's displays for invited bands' shows) that could easily have gone to AC that have gone to MGMT. I've seen them both live, as well, and MGMT had a really great live show (they shared the stage with the Flaming Lips, so they did have that edge), as well as treating their music with a lot of enthusiasm that some bands leave behind; their fans were wayyyyy into it as well, and I love a band that can get the crowd going.

But AC had a show like no other; their main stage screen was a giant skull comprised of different light gels with lights flashing from behind, and then cardboard stalactite strung across the top of the stage with Party City halloween bats for extra cheeze effect; then there was a screen at the bottom of the stage with some little 30's black and white cartoon alien dude in the fetal position just spinning over and over and over again; and the screens to either side of the stage, usually for people way in the back who can't see the band, were just filled with weird color swirls. And then their seamless, hazed performance, with even the most recognizable songs being sent through some dimensional filter, coming out with new intentions, and generally played with a new sense of magic. The songs you didn't recognize just washed over you and made you love them anyway, which is one reason why i love their new song- generally looked-over but so hypnotic, Wide Eyed, which was written by a dude who usually doesn't write songs- with which they opened the show.

Tl;dr, if you haven't heard these dudes, I can hook you up

Great post mate! Thanks for such a great contribution!

I am very interested in cellular form, the small and the big, and our end of the spectrum, even though we are just part of the progression in scale from cellular to universal and galactic(and whatever is beyond that) It has fascinated me since I was a child.(childhood is another thing you see a lot in my art)

I actually really like animal collective, but I have not posted about them yet

This is A.B. Skhy. I loved this song the first time I heard it.
The guitar weaves around an energetic drum beat and some kick ass vocals that harmonise effortlessly.

These guys are a contemporary band, but sound like they are from another dimension.

Some psych folk I listen to when I have just gotten up and have just woke and baked. Absolutely flawless and beautiful. I love her voice. Practically fall in love with her everytime I hear it, even though this was done back in 69.

That's ill! I've found that childhood is a large component of great psychedelic music, and is consciously/unconsciously revisited countlessly in the art, so if you have any pieces you'd like to share i'd be thrilled to sit back and admire dem.

That's a cool idea on your cellular pieces, it gives it a very journalistic, of-the-moment feel that, whether we like it or not, is how human supremacy is. Humans are animals that are susceptible to the same downfalls many species have faced, a downfall which could be incited at any moment, seeing how fragile nature is and how much of a toll we're really taking on her. But it's almost 4 am and i should stop.

Btw I heard a Tame Impala song the other day, and the guy(s?) really has(ve?) an uncanny Lennon similarity, in a very good sense that i've never really seen before. The track i heard was pretty straight rock though, aside from the heavy fuzz around the general sound, which i dug. my mom dug em too, she thought the song had a Muse kinda sound too though (she's most familiar with Uprising).

It is kind of scary isn't it, to look at things in a general scale, or a universal scale I should say. It brings up that old cliche, makes you realize how small you are. For me it makes me realize how integral I am. That I am, in scale, as an atom is to me, just as significant and important as that atom to something far larger than me in scale, whatever that may be, whether it is a planet, a star system, the universe, or beyond that in scale whatever that is.
I am really glad you like Tame Impala! And your mother! Dunno about the Muse comparison though! I will have to look into that.

This album was one of the most incredible hours I have spent in a while.

That comment is all very fine and good, unless you're Zaphod Beeblebrox!

(If you don't know "The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (which is so trippy I'm just going to go right ahead and assume you do) that comment will make no sense to you at all...

I only properly discovered Donovan a few weeks ago, and now I cannot stop listening to him. I love his lyrics and flow of words, very carefree and beautiful.

First time I heard this, I fell in love with it. There are a few What the **** moments, but in a good way. First time I heard this I didn't know what to expect and I love its' positivity and abstract construction...

I discovered these guys about a year ago from a friend online, ever since then I have been pretty captivated by their mellow, sunny sound. Very beautiful music. I love how psychedelic it sounds and yet how progressive it is.

Feathers are a very charming/ haunting/ eerie psych/ folk band from America, that dissapeared from the internet a few years ago.
Here is their music.
