When I heard "My Bloody Valentine" for the first time I was blown away. My friend introduced them to me a in 2009 but I only really started listening to them again when I started getting into psychedelic. Their music was so delicate and pure. Every facet of the music was one organic thing, the guitar wasn't drowned out by the voice, and vice versa, the voice and the wavey guitar style were one symbiotic thing, and the music flowed together so beautifully. And I was also surprised to find out that they were an Irish band, as I had never heard music like this come from Ireland before.

I first heard MBV on the Dave Fanning show on 2FM about 8 years ago or more, he used to play 'Sometimes' every now and again. At the time I just didn't get it, the song sounded like someone wrote it on an acoustic guitar and then just decided to put a big layer of distortion over it for the hell of it. I just couldn't comprehend it at the time.

By 2007 my music horizons were beginning to rapidly expand so I decided to give Loveless a shot. The first couple of times I listened to it I thought it was interesting but it hadn't quite clicked with me. The third time I listened to it I was lying in bed stoned out of my head. It sounded glorious, I could almost make out every layer of guitar in each song and I actually noticed there were drums on 'To Here Knows When'. From then on I saw music in a whole new way, how vocals could be blended into the music so seamlessly and how you didn't really need lyrics to convey emotions.

Speaking of Irish psychedelic bands have you ever listened to Twinkranes? They are a band from Dublin and released an album about 3 years ago or so.

There's a 9-minute studio version of this song that is mind-blowing but I can't find it on Youtube.

Next band we are going to look at is one of my favourites, Country Joe and the Fish. The were pioneers for this genre in the 60's, and were also brilliant musicians. I remember hearing their stuff for the stuff time, and going, What...The.....FUKKK

Be warned, this is some trippy ****.

Take a guess what this song is about

This is the first one of them I heard, it freaked me out at first, but I was always fascinated by its' sound and kept coming back to it.

Country Joe and The Fish - Grace - YouTube

This is a beautiful instumental, completely original and experimental for its' time. Its' a masterpiece I think.

This is the boys (well just one of them here) in live action at Woodstock.

The Chameleons were a band from England that were active in the 80's. This song has been one I have listened to for about 4 years and it is incredible in my opinion. Probably my favourite song or at least one of my top favourites ever. It incorporates so many feelings of mine, nostalgia, bewilderment, being confounded at the beauty of life, melancholy, surreal transfiction.

These guys are like a mixture of the Chameleons and My Bloody valentine. Pretty beautiful.

My Morning Jacket experimented with psychedelia in this album and it sounded great.
