Default The In-Tray: A Collaborative Workspace for Journal Authors

No, not another of my journals, not this time.
I'd just like to suggest using this as a place we can swap ideas, test concepts, trial new things, ask questions, and where anyone can place any suggestions they might wish, like maybe something they'd like to see in a journal that is not currently being done.

Nobody is of course obliged to use this, and it may turn out to be pointless, but it may, hopefully, turn into a place where we can gather and talk about our journals, suggest things or get feedback, before going "live" with them as it were.

Anyway, it's here so if anyone wants to use it, go ahead.

Wouldn't this be better suited as a "Group"? That way things won't be public until the person needing feedback is ready to "Go Live" with their work.

Good idea, but I kind of wanted to keep this open also for people who wanted to request things or make suggestions for any journals. In that case, everyone would have to be in the group. Sure, this is less private, but look at it another way: you might get people commenting on ideas we all think are great but may be received differently by some of our readership.

I think keeping it all-inclusive -- mainly for journal authors but anyone can drop by and talk to us --- is a better option.

Though if I'm in the minority and you'd all prefer Plankton's idea of a group, let me know. This is just an idea I had.

What do you mean by "Group" like a Social Group? I wanted to make a Social Group for plug.dj but I don't know how to start one of those things. And I don't know if people bother with those things anyway. So I don't know how useful it would be.

Maybe create the group, then have link to it here, and have people request membership. Sounds like a lot of work though.

Umm, yes. I think Pet_Sounds created the Grammar Nazi group, so he'd be someone to help with that, cuz I'm not seeing where to create one either.

It's the same font as the background so it's hard to see, highlight your whole page and maybe that'll help. I don't know where it is but I remember Urbang explaining it once.

On a computer, this. On a phone, I found it by clicking on an unusually large blank space near the bottom of the page. Same process to create a group discussion. Makes no ****ing sense, but still…

On the thread topic:
I'm thinking of reviving my folk journal and doing a more in-depth write-up on certain subgenres, starting with the British Folk Revival. Does that interest anyone?

Q: So what do you feel is a better way to communicate, this thread (The In-Tray) or a Social Group?

I think the Social Group would be better for ideas like a new journal theme. A place to kick ideas around before committing to them. This way a person can change his mind without be hounded with questions like "Where's that new journal you promised?"

But for general questions and comments, this thread would be better. Maybe use it for question of the week or whatever time it takes to gets suitably answered. Questions like e.g. So what do you feel is a better way to communicate, this thread (The In-Tray) or a Social Group?

Social group discussions are no good in general because you can't quote.

Q: What kind of journal works better, one that's thematic or one that's eclectic?
