One song is entitled Kung Fu on the Internet, which I'm adopting as an anthem for the daily life of an MB mod. The opening shuffle of Accident is also great (the lyrics accompanying this cheerfulness are mainly ‘bodies break easily’). Granted, these songs all pretty much sound the same, but who cares, especially since none of them even reach a length of 2 minutes. No attention span needed.

Great write-up, Marie. Never heard of Lung Leg before. I just listened to all the (conveniently-brief, lol) tracks and "dissonant but bright chaos" is a perfect description of their sound. For some reason, they remind me instrumentally of latter-day Ornette Coleman & Prime Time (minus the funk and plus the...punk

).

about the first question: it depends on what your taste is. I don't know enough about that to give you a precise rec, so I'll list some classics (Ignoring riot grrrl because I guess that's not to your taste, even though I recommend you listen to it):
- the raincoats are one of the greatest female punk bands. They made their own non-aggressive kind of punk music which had a magical beauty. Their most famous song is their cover of the Kinks' Lola, which I think is the best introduction for you

- Third classic: X-ray spex. One of the greatest voices in punk and an awesome saxophone. Of everything on this list I think you might like this one best

About this question: I feel like I have regularly been taken less seriously intellectually than I would have been if I'd been a man, and I have often had the experience of being dismissed by men because I'm a woman who is not a sex object to them. And much more than that, I have been generally discriminated as a woman who is not feminine. I literally wrote an extensive post about why I love feminist punk in this journal

Feel free to ask of that post doesn't answer things for you though.
