Les Hurdle – Soul Train (1974)
Les Hurdle – "Soul Train" (1974). Library track from Themes International Music Vol. 1 (TIM 1018).
"Themes International was a British production music library founded in 1973 by Alan Parker. By mid-1980s it was acquired by EMI through KPM Music and consenquently folded into the latter. The label's last album was issued in 1999." I think Les Hurdle was often Alan Hawshaw’s session bassist. Sounds like they’re tipping their hat to Kool & the G’s Jungle Boogie which came out a year earlier. (or perhaps a bit of "Pick up the Pieces" from 1974??) |

Reg Tilsley – Warlock (1972)
Just one more please mods, before I get a strike for going over the 3 post limit.
Reg Tilsley – "Warlock" (1972) – From the library album Tilsley Orchestral No. 10 (Music De Wolfe – DW/LP 3255). This was a close one between "Warlock" and "Hold the Road", but Warlock got it cos of the wah and I just had to show some 70's NFL: |
I believe I heard the Soul Train song before. I like the Full Action song, that era of mid/late 70's had some very nice bombastic songs.
As for the NFL Films, yeah there's a lot of great production music used in that. A song I was looking for(I have it on a disc somewhere) was a song entitled "Bonzana", I believe it was done by Syd Dale. It was the closing of the 1969 Redskins yearbook, with Vince Lombardi walking in slow-mo off the field. |
"Edit" I found the clip I was talking about youtu.be/NVmcQPwtXaM?t=1237

Pierre Arvay - Skyway (1976)
Quote:
Another De Wolfe composer was Pierre Arvay. Just heard Skyway today. Really nice track. (Edit: a sort of meandering melancholy with groove, and some scrunchy brass chords). It's on DWCR 001 and also on his Cradle of Time album 1976. Wasn't sure if I was getting beamed up by a ufo, or had just walked into a dimly lit Paris bar at 2am. He also has a more classical version called Sky Way 1 on his webpage Pierre Arvay . Musiques. Described as intense nostalgic piano. |
Here's another theme that hasn't been identified yet. |
The Pierre Arvay Skyway track, I've heard before. Very nice song.

Perhaps Score Productions (Bob Israel, Edd Kalehoff, Charles Fox...)? Or Omnimusic? The only other one I heard with French horn like that is ABC’s “Monday Night Baseball Opening 1979” (watch?v=aL8SKUqzEzM) But I don't know who wrote that one either. |

Re. Arvay’s Skyway, I listened to Albert Ayler’s “Spirits” from 1965. The melody sounds very similar. Beautiful! |
