Ok, to all the X&Y haters, did y'all not hear Fix you, Talk, Speed of sound or The hardest part? Because those are probably some of the best songs they've ever written...:\

Aye they had some really top class songs on there, but in my opinion, just as many filler tracks tbh

Every time I listen to X&Y, I find something new that I like about one of the songs or the album as a whole. VLV is kind of the opposite. I don't think X&Y is as good as Parachutes or A Rush of Blood, but it's not a bad album at all.

I wouldn't say that Viva la Vida is a bad album. I have to say that A Rush of Blood to the Head and Parachutes are their best IMO.

Posting here to give my opinion on the album: it was surprisingly good.

It's an okay album
not the "OMG BEST ALBUM OF THE CENTURY" people make it to be.
7/10

my favorite songs are Lovers In Japan and Strawberry Swing

rumour has it that coldplay have already wrote their next 3 albums and are just sitting on them, biding their time so to speak

I don't think XY is bad at all, but it's the "least good" album from the band, songs that were commercially successful, like Speed of Sound, look like if they were composed with spare parts from other songs from the band (and this particularily has exactly the same rythm and structure as Clocks). Viva la Vida is their experimental try, produced by a man that's all but conventional, Brian Eno. It has commercially sellable tracks, like Viva la Vida or Violet Hill, which are nice to listen, and wonderful songs like Lost or Life in Technicolor.

I think this album overcomes XY by far and nearly achieves the quality of A Rush of Blood to the Head (obviously it's nothing compared to Parachutes).
