Yeah the whole "Dookie was great, but the only worthy green day album" is getting tiresome. Nimrod was much better, as was Kerplunk, and unliek most peopel I really liked warning. I would rank them like this:
1.Nimrod 2.Kerplunk 3.Warning 4.Dookie 5.American Idiot 6.1,039 blahblahblah I didn't include 21st because I really have yet to listen to it enough to make a decision. |

I've always enjoyed Green Day's stuff for what it is - good pop rock songwriting that's guaranteed to be full of catchy hooks.
This album was the first of them all that had to grow on me. Even after multiple listens, I'd say it's still my least favorite of their albums as a whole. Almost the entire middle section from "East Jesus Nowhere" to "The Static Age" seems like filler to me. If they trimmed some of the fat this could have been a better record, but considering this took 5 years I'm really not impressed. For the record I'm one of the few longtime Green Day fans that really enjoyed American Idiot, and this album just seems to be obviously trying so hard to recreate that whole vibe. Instead it comes off as stale and repetitive. |

I saw them live two days ago. They played for three hours. Brilliantly. Billie ran up and down the stage making fun of Christianity. Tre' came out in a pink bunnysuit before they played and danced around.
IT WAS THE BEST IT WAS SO AWESOME I HAVE NEW WILL TO LIVE NO SARCASM |

It took me 3 seperate sessions of concentrated time, to get through the whole album. Not a good sign... I did enjoy 21 Guns but the rest was not up my street, some of the songs in the middle sounded like something straight off American Idiot too.
My vote goes to poor, as I am not a greenday fan, but I really did enjoy Nimrod, needless to say this album was just a let down for me. |
