i think people are way to obsessed with "21 Guns" it's not even all that good

storymilo 12-15-2009 06:03 PM

^Agreed. Hardly the best song on the album.

FETCHER. 12-15-2009 06:08 PM

It is alright, really overrated though. :)

BTown 12-16-2009 09:54 AM

I don't see how Green Day is still getting called punk, even pop-punk. There isn't anything punk about 21 Guns and half the other songs of the album.

Or more like Neil Young 'Heart Of Gold'
(not just the chorus, more so the Verses)

Well it seems you're saying that they used to be punk, or at least pop-punk, which would mean that they could still be called a punk band. That'd be like saying the Beatles aren't pop because Tomorrow Never Knows is experimental; it doesn't change that they used to be pop.

But if you're saying that they were never punk, then that's just your opinion.

This probably isn't the best example...

Just because a band is experimental doesn't mean they're not a pop band. It has nothing to do with what they "used to be."

Well it was a bad example, I was just blanking on a good one. Just imagine any band that changed styles really.

Rickenbacker 12-19-2009 04:01 PM

Bad Brains.

BTown 12-19-2009 10:49 PM

Yeah Bad Brains is a great example, changeing styles isn't a bad thing but the one that green day is changing to sucks.

MikelMashjr 01-04-2011 03:52 AM

these guys always deliver, haha, how can u rate it if it wasnt out?

bantermusic_uk 06-27-2011 12:56 PM

Lost the love after Warning - they became a different beast and it's not for me now really

Queen Boo 10-08-2011 11:54 AM

Autocorrect is a bitch, ain't it Chusady?

jmdelepas 11-27-2011 09:48 AM

I miss the old Greenday. It's a good album, I'm just not too crazy about it. In my opinion, olot of the songs sound the same. The one that sticks out for my is Before the Lobotomy.

Queen Boo 11-27-2011 05:33 PM

This album was a piece of **** and they should be ashamed of themselves. American Idiot was perfect tho.

Goofle 11-28-2011 02:14 AM

American Idiot was far from perfect.

Queen Boo 11-28-2011 03:18 AM

Okay but there are parts of it I can still enjoy immensely.

I concur.

I rated it "average" because I really liked their older albums more. So many bands are all over the political thing and it works for some bands like Sonic Syndicate but I really don't think it came off that well for Green Day. It's like Jack said, it's winey and there's no real power in it.
But it's still okay to chill with.

Howard the Duck 02-20-2012 04:34 AM

i like it

rated it "very good"

still nowhere near "Dookie", though

KevinSlater_04 03-22-2012 04:18 AM

Just heard about this, I d(^_^o) Green Day.

Howard the Duck 03-22-2012 05:04 AM

i'm rilly starting to like this one, even if i agree than "American Idiot" is superior

Forward To Death 03-22-2012 06:35 AM

Junk, just like everything else after Insomnia. They were never punk. Just pop punk. I think theyre just repetitive and generally dry on ideas, much like RHCP and other prominent 90s acts.

dunjunqi 06-17-2012 06:39 AM

Uhm, is this thread just going to sit here until it comes out?

varunr93 07-11-2012 04:07 AM

green day is needs to quit already, american idiot was mediocre now this wtf

locoman23 07-18-2012 12:39 PM

What do you think, will their new albums be any good? IMO they cannot fill out three albums with quality material that's gonna actually head towards a different genre. They should be interesting though.

You should check out ¡Uno! It really had some quality material. They've changed a lot too. The album is unlike their AI and 21CB albums.

Nothing

Rjinn 10-15-2012 01:37 AM

Pop punk seems to be a major contradiction within itself. That's why it sounds retarded.
