Of course, you could also just pay the $9 and own it :-)

I liked it, voted good. Time will tell, lord knows I'll listen to this a bazillion more times before i come to a steady conclusion. Right now I'd say it's inferior to in rainbows. It just fails to reach the climaxes like songs like Weird Fishes and All I Need did. Separator was my favorite track for sure. Codex was really good too.

Feral is insanely cool. Reminded me of Crystal Castles! Still giving a big listen but early indications are that it's good. However, did anyone find Little By Little a tad whiny? Just in parts of the song. Second half definitely dominates. I feel as if the first 3 songs were almost displaced from the rest. But like I said, still more analyzing to do.

A bit too short for my liking, but still good. Would like to hope that the rumors of the 2nd disk is true, especially if it's like the 2nd half which was the more solid part of the album.

Ok, this is what I'll say about the record.

1: In terms of musical devices, there IS, quite simply, no new ground here. "No" as in, none. This album could just as well have been made 5, 6, 7 years ago, and you're absolutely kidding yourself if you even attempt to claim otherwise. This record is so Radiohead, it could have been made by a bunch of highschool imitators.

2: HOWEVER... what we DO have here are 8 FANTASTIC tracks that seamlessly blend together to make a haunting and exquisite whole.

3: We also have a record that, somehow or other, captures all the anxieties and nervous uncertainties of the current times. So it's a winner in terms of relevance.

Is this a "brilliant" album? Well, what is brilliance these days? If brilliance is characterized by reference to other contemporaneous releases, then this is certainly going to be 'brilliant' compared to most releases we'll see this year. Whether it has any standalone brilliance is something I won't bother pondering...

...But since it's as good as almost anything else that'll come out over the next 10 months or so, I'll be content to call it brilliant for now.

I want to vote in between Good and Average. Because it was simply "Ok". I personally don't like the first half of this album at all, I found it borderline average and poor. The second half certainly does pick up. Codex and Give Up The Ghost being my two favourites. And they're probably the only two songs on the album I could listen to in full on a repeated basis. Everything else seems somewhat mediocre, with the exception of Lotus Flower which is also a pretty good track.

I'd say that my favorite half is the first. Bloom, Mr. Magpie and Little By Little are pretty interesting songs when you finally get into them. I find the rest of the songs fairly boring, with the exception of Lotus Flower of course.

I've only listened once so far and I was impressed... but I think I agree w/ you in all you said above. I imagine the more I listen, the more I'll start to like it.

This is pretty much how I feel, but I'm gonna give it some more time before I vote and make it "official"

Pretty good, but nowhere near the best of the year and it's not even march yet.
