ummm....I'm going to ignore those first two you mentioned.

Both singers of Nightwish? really? Tarja is ten times better than that new person that they picked up. Yes they have different singing styles but still geez. The new singer they have is basically Amy Lee in disguise.

Bravo to those who chose Bettye LaVette! Bettye has an awesome voice. She's been around for ages and now she just beginning to find a wider audience.

Mavis Staples is from the same era and school of R&B/Gospel singing as Bettye and she's also insanely talented.

Check out the vid of New Orleans singer Irma Thomas singing Time is on My Side with Allen Toussaint's band. She's 68 years old and her voice has more power and vitality than it's ever had.

Absolutely no way. Avril is a prick.

Shannon McArdle (The Mendoza Line) has an amazing voice... "Since I Came" is one of her best moments in my opinion.

Irma Thomas' new album, Simply Grand, is fantastic. A powerful voice without ever becoming screechy, a trait that seems endemic among modern female vocalists.

I've mentioned her before but Grace Potter has a great voice:
