I'd say the Beatles by far.

The Beatles!

Now, if this were The Beatles vs. Brian Wilson, I would have been tearing my hair out trying to decide - Excellent British Rock filled with innovation vs. Brilliant Writer who perfectly captured the American Sound and style and later went onto create masterworks like "Good Vibrations." That would have been a major tie.

Still, thanks to all of the crap the BBs unleashed while Brian lost it, all the way to making one of the most annoying 80's hits that ranks up there with Starship's crap-o-rama, it has to be The Beatles, Solo albums included...even Ringo's post Mid-70's albums.

Beach Boys didn't turn to "shlocky crap" until around 74 or so but so did The Rolling Stones so what can ya do?

The Beatles hands down! Quite simply they set the standard for versatility and produced albums that were innovative and off the wall. The Beach Boys legacy just doesn't live up to the Beatles one.

Pet Sounds is better than any Beatles album in my opinion (although it may be very close with Revolver) - and that's coming from someone who used to consider them his favorite band by far... for about 3-4 years straight. Of course, The Beatles have more good material than The Beach Boys do, but I think SMiLE would have definitely have been better than Sgt. Pepper had it been finished.

Pet Sounds doesn't even touch Help in my opinion. Help is a great pop record, and it really doesn't touch Revolver, Abbey Road or Rubber Soul.

Haha, I can't even begin to relate to that.

Pet Sounds is on a completely different level than Help. Help is nothing more than a pop record, you're right. Pet Sounds, though, is full of impeccable arrangements and it's certainly more emotionally powerful.
