Red House all the way!

Frownland 02-02-2014 02:35 PM

It used to be If 6 Was 9, but these days I think my favourite of his is Bold As Love.

Not trying to be rude but Jimi isn't reggae...anyways my favorite songs are "Wind Cries Mary", Foxy, Purple Haze, Angel, and my very favorite..Little Wing.

Carpe Mortem 04-11-2014 09:18 AM

OP, can you add a poll to this?

My vote goes to Voodoo Chile, dig the message, dig the tune.

Although 'Foxy Lady' is at a close second, because, Wayne's World.

It's very hard to chose one, I like Voodoo Child, Stone Free, Fire and many other.

Moss 05-30-2014 07:31 PM

A poll wouldn't be that great for this thread.

There category for "other" would end up beating out all the other choices for poll options with the people that have their own personal favorites that aren't the go to songs that everyone knows.

It is better to just discuss your favorite in the thread.

Agree 100% with this. Great stuff.

Loomer29 06-23-2014 03:57 AM

"May This Be Love"

Northwinds 09-03-2014 09:58 AM

Hey Joe. But i liked the whole Cry of Love album released after Jimi's death. Tunes like Ezy Ryder, Freedom, Straight Ahead and the ballad Angel.

jlw729 10-15-2014 11:49 PM

Voodoo Chile, hands down.

Hypocrisy 03-08-2015 08:35 PM

Voodoo Chile Slight Return & Manic Depression

ladyislingering 04-09-2015 06:33 PM

fond memories of taking a fuckload of vicodin, then flying to Minneapolis to my aunt's place.

it was my cousin's grad ceremony and I was high as a fucking kite - she was going on to a Catholic college

Pet_Sounds 04-09-2015 08:27 PM

Foxy Lady's my favourite. Funny enough, "Purple Haze" was the song that got my attention, but I don't think it's one of his best--probably not even in the top ten.

Plainview 04-15-2015 04:00 PM

Bold As Love. Love the way he sings it and that end solo is otherworldly.

EPOCH6 04-15-2015 04:24 PM

Spanish Castle Magic, heavy as ****.

snagglepuss 04-21-2015 07:29 PM

Red House, Still Raining Still Dreaming

Neurotripsicks 04-21-2015 10:39 PM

Hear My Train A Comin the live version. Soooooooo gooooooood

Musicwhore A-Z 04-29-2015 09:54 PM

I'd have to say 'Fire' or 'Voodoo Child' ( :hphones:). Good stuff!

Question 08-10-2015 12:36 PM

"The Stars that Play with Laughing Sam's Dice"

Sauerkraut 08-12-2015 09:57 AM

Hear my train coming

DarthRevan1973 10-16-2015 08:03 AM

Voodoo Child (Slight Return) and All Along the Watchtower -- the cliched answer, but the man reached his peak as an artist and performer on those songs

EPOCH6 10-16-2015 10:06 AM

Lately, Up From the Skies or Machine Gun.

Black Francis 10-16-2015 10:12 AM

A merman i should turn to be.

Im not the biggest Hendrix fan but that song was so good and creative the first time i ever heard it i had to stop it midway cause i couldn't process its awesomeness.

Mr. Charlie 10-16-2015 10:31 AM

Hear My Train A Comin'

All Along The Watchtower comes mighty close.

Really? I actually prefer the full Voodoo Chile. The dark, bluesy atmosphere just takes me over every time. Slight Return is a favorite of mine too though.

I'd say that Voodoo Chile, May This Be Love, Fire, Purple Haze, and 1983 are my favorite Hendrix tunes.

Tristan_Geoff 10-17-2015 08:51 PM

Oh, and Peace in Mississippi. Just about forgot that existed.

RebelliousTaco 10-18-2015 12:56 AM

I really like catfish blues.

Catfish Blues is one of my favorite blues tunes, I wasn't aware Jimi made a cover though?

He did a lot of covers live, but I'm sure it showed up on a posthumous record.

RebelliousTaco 10-18-2015 03:16 PM

I first heard jack white play it, then i found out jimi covered it. Until now i assumed he wrote it. Who did?

Probably Robert Petway, but perhaps not.

Stornock 10-24-2015 10:26 AM

Fire!

ArthurReviews 10-28-2015 11:27 AM

Purple Haze for sure!

JGuy Grungeman 11-08-2015 09:12 AM
