Holy sh*t, I'm impressed, he really kicked Mikael's ass too. Poor guy. :(

Deadwing is a great starting album with PT.

If you read the next two posts you would of seen that I already have it ;)

Just ordered lightbulb sun yesterday :D

what is the deal with the 5.1 surround disk? Can it only be played on a DVD player, or can you put it on iPod? And when Muse had a 5.1 disk, I seem to remember that you could edit/play each individual track...can you do that with this one?

DiSTANToblivion 03-20-2010 06:19 AM

That's because Steven Wilson loves the production process. He would stay in the studio if he could apparently, and those 5.1 mixes show you just how good a job he is at it. Put it on, sit back, and just zone out... Those remasterings are AMAZING.

The sound of this album (do you mean album?) is the same like "Arriving Somewhere" DVD. It's live. I would say voice of Wilson isn't better on live recording than on studio albums but sound of instruments is really cool and great :thumb: I am happy I have it, I think this is "a must" for all fans.
For you I would recommend to buy DVD, you have the audio and video together.

Do you have some live albums of PT? If not, you should definitelly try.

Two live albums Coma Divine (older stuff) + Warszawa (newer stuff with great live version of Russia on Ice) - they are official, you can buy them for sure.

Other really good live albums are XM I and XM II - mostly songs from Deadwing and In Absentia.

We Lost the Skyline
- special acoustic live album - only S. Wilson with guitar and John Wesley, without band. This album has some classic tracks like Trains, Lazarus, Even less, Waiting... If you like Wilson and his voice, it's really interesting album - you can try acoustic sound of PT song and it's different than sound of band.

Here two examples from this album...

Some talking and song Normal (acoustic - I love this version - better than studio version, in my opinion)

The Sky moves sideways

Hehe, I always love when I compare these acoustic slow songs with some metal riffs - for example song Futile from EP Futile :D It's so different but still the same band - amazing!

(Btw Futile is one of my favourite EPs by PT, it has track Futile and instrumental song Orchidia is also fantastic. Other songs you know from studio albums.)

Yes, Mikael looks with Wilson like a small boy with a teacher :D But it's cool and funny video, isn't it?!

Well since FOABP is my fave PT alb I'll definitely be checking this out...

mrguy 04-08-2010 02:21 AM

I have a couple of CDwow vouchers I need to use by tonight. I plan to use one on PT which album do I get? The albums I have are - lightbulb sun, Deadwing, In absentia and The Incident.

I won't get Foabp because I can get it cheaper elsewhere.

As long as you're getting FOABP...
Head for either Stupid Dream (more accessible), or Up The Downstair (pure psychedelic heaven). The Sky Moves Sideways I find really hard to find. Voyage 34 is extremely different, one long mind bending trip about a trip gone wrong (spoken word, no singing).
