I have a load of nicked Bowie and... Blondie records off me dad. He recently returned the favour and took a load of stuff off my harddrive.

My dad now enjoys Dead Kennedys and Mclusky, good for him

Heh. That's great! I just discovered last week that my 63 year old dad has gotten into the Pogues. I thought that was pretty cool.

it's not really a 'thing' for jazz, just anything they can use to feel more intellectually superior to someone else, be it a phonograph, bookshelf, wine cellar, whatever makes them feel nice and haughty.

'course i'm purposely misleading you to believe that everyone that owns these things is a complete prick. when it comes down to it i'd love to have a nice LP player myself.

I see what you mean, yeah some people think they're hot **** and think they have to prove it by buying symbols of intelligence. I like just being able to hold an intelligent conversation. I mean if you need to prove you're intelligent so badly you obviously arn't that smart.

Kinda like Led Zep fans. They have always acted with a intellectually superior attitude as well.

Zep fans can be annoying but I don't think we consider ourselves intellectual superiors or anything like that.

I don't think I know enough Led Zep fans to know. I mean they're a good band but there's other incredible talent and influential music out there.
