I don't even go by albums.

The first song I heard by them was "Checkmarks."

I was bought.

Yes, they are. Something tells me I shouldn't even be calling them punk either. They're a disgrace.

Listen to this:

It sounds like an angry slightly sped-up Good Charlotte/Simple Plan with crappy political lyrics.

Because they look like Motley Crue and their music sounds very 80's hair metallish, even if they do throw in their little hottopiccore thing.

LOL at this whole thread. Big LOL at someone who said Bayside is a typical metalcore band. EVEN BIGGER LOL at everyone arguing about all the ****ty bands in this thread.

Bayside are not metalcore. Bayside are also probably the best band listed.

Indeed. That was the point I was trying to make.

Who said that Warped Tour is not a corporate moneymaking scheme? If you don't see that, then I pray that you are either blind, stupid, or just completely dense.

Well i'm not sure about all that but it definatley was not an accidental change from the punk rock themes.

The Warped Tour is a touring music and extreme sports festival. The tour is held in venues such as parking lots or fields upon which the stages and other structures are erected. The BMX/skateboarding shoe manufacturer Vans, among others, has sponsored the tour every year since 1995, and it is often referred to as the Vans Warped Tour. The tour started out as a showcase for punk rock music, but its more recent line-ups have featured more electronica, alternative rock, emo, post-hardcore, metalcore and Christian rock bands.

Think about this: everything there is sponsored. You have literally thousands of sponsors and other companies throwing advertisements in your face. Everything is presented by some company, you have Monster energy drinks, AT&T throwing out all of this promo crap left and right. I understand how Vans came to represent a skating event. That makes more sense. What I don't understand is how come so many companies take part in bludgeoning the tour-goers with so much incessant advertising. Basically, what has happened with Warped Tour is a bunch of companies found a way to make a lot of money off basically purchasing a share of the Warped Tour, and selling their image to kids, all in the name of "punk rock." Its the same thing that Mtv and myspace have done, they purchased a supposed alternative and subversive form of media, and now completely own every aspect of it, completely undermining the message that was there in the first place. The problem is, is that kids these days are too dumb to realize they just bought into a gigantic corporation's moneymaking scheme, and somehow think that this is still "punk."

It seems like this forum has some people who know a bit about the punk genre. This thread is not an example of that.

I said that it is a corporate festival.

I also choose to argue about the bands, because some of them I like. We are free to like and discuss certain bands just as much as you're free to hate them.

Edit: I agree that almost none of the bands are punk rock. Back in the day even, most of the bands were pop-punk/borderline.
