I'd say that it's either The Pop Group's Y or The Fall's Hex Enduction Hour, even though both do generally fall under the post-punk category, I see them as the best.

Been listening to Machine Gun Etiquette as a number of people have sung its praises on here, I have to now concede that it is one of the best 1st wave punk albums that I've heard, the songs are just soooooo good far better than I remembered them to be. I'd also say it was better than their debut album, which to be fair I never thought was as good as the Ramones, Sex Pistols or Clash debuts.

This song sounds like one of those that inspired early Metallica. Some real thrashy sounding punk.
