What Blink 182 is musically is not punk but, rather, an aggressive version of Cheap Trick - the only differences are that the music is slightly more edgier and the lead vocals are more whiney. Other than that, its basically Cheap Trick's formula of melodic power pop.

If a listener establishes this first instead of looking for their punk attributes, they are not only way easier to enjoy, but they are quite good

Listen to handful of Cheap Trick's songs (like "Surrender"), speed them up a hair and play them edgier, remove Robin Zander's 70s Rock voice in favor of the Mark Hoppus adolescent-ish whine, and you have the basic Blink 182 formula

I think Tom's voice in the 90's is atrocious but he honed it with Angels and Airwaves. I don't really listen to them myself but one of my friends is obsessed with them so I tend to hear a lot about them lol. My favorite song is still The Adventure by AVA

I could never get into Blink 182, not even when I liked pop punk like that.
One of the main reasons was his voice, I can't stand it.

There's a lot of pop punk I like. The Menzingers, Direct Hit!, Teenage Bottlerocket, Screeching Weasel, The Descendents, various Ska Punk bands that are more poppy, The Queers, The Ramones, The Flatliners, The Undertones, The Buzzcocks, early Green Day, The Offspring, Rancid, The Wonder Years, Banner Pilot, Transit, RVIVR, early Green Day, Anti-Flag, etc. Even Four Year Strong and Set Your Goals.

But I still can't get into Blink 182.
But then again, there's also a lot of pop punk I hate.
Sum 41, Blink 182, All Time Low, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, Chunk! No Captain Chunk!. The last one is probably the worst, just listen to those vocals. It's so bad it's entertaining. Like, IceJJFish level. Only IceJJFish probably isn't serious. And I dislike a whole lot of others I can't name.

Sum 41, Yellowcard, those two bands have had some good songs here and there. I still jam In Too Deep by Sum 41 from time to time, was a staple song during my middle school years.

Sum 41 was the first band I ever really listened to.
It's true they have a few good songs, but I just can't say they've really made a real good album as a whole.
''All Killer No Filler'' is one big lie of an album title.
