Urban Hat€monger ? 02-27-2006 01:55 PM

Violence has always been around with music.

Teddy boys in the 50s
Mods & rockers in the 60s
Bikers & skinheads in the 70s & 80s

Rap is just something those people pick up on.

TrampInaTux 02-28-2006 01:22 AM

Honestly, if these mates of mine listened to rock music they wouldn't be the same way. They speak the way the rappers speak, walk the way the rappers walk. I love rap but it's just these stupid kids who take it to far that I don't like.

I happen to like Kanye West. Jesus Walks is a good song too.

YEAH....what a GREAT song that is....

teenage-music-scallion 03-05-2006 01:21 AM

kanye west is awesome i love his album late registration

Charliecho 03-10-2006 02:14 PM

Jesus walks is a great song but after hearing alot of kayne its not exactly that kid friendly. Especially over say, jammx or lil bow wow, although i'd take jammx over lil bow wow any day because their message is much stronger.

I just read this great interview with Kanye West talking about his loss at the Grammy’s, his current project with Common, and what the future holds for this king of hip hop. This is a must read for any Kanye fan…I ain’t sayin he’s a gold digger.

Kanyes nice but he is full of himself big time lately. If he keeps it up im gonna start hating him like 50 Cent. He better not hook up with that child molestor.

Reznorslave 06-08-2006 05:46 PM

Kanye West is a very talented artist. Sadly, I no longer respect him because he is now an *******!!!

Stone Magnet 06-08-2006 06:14 PM

I couldn't care less what Kanye West has to say about anything, really. He's not that talented. I said in another thread that the term, "overrated", is thrown around a bit too loosely these days, but I can honestly say that Kanye West is drastically overrated.

Raine 06-08-2006 08:37 PM

I like most of Kanye's stuff because it's different.
The only ime I wanna hear him is if he's rapping.
Could care less about what he plans to do or his political views or any of that other bull crap

Peace

Cool T 06-11-2006 07:28 AM

another guy overrated..

Jeo 06-11-2006 04:50 PM

I think kanye west is great at what he does, i went to his gig/concert what ever you wanna call it at the Manchester Evening News Arena and i thought he was great, got the crowd going a great entertainer............

But....he has a terrible attitude like when i was there he was giving sooo much attitude to his support staff whilst he was on stage, he really does believe his own hype now and its a shame but i dont think he will ever make a bad song or think of bad lyrics but their is time to come yet.

All in all my opinion of kanye is that he is awesome at what he does for his job just abit of a **** b*****d!

Kanye's sneak peek at the upcoming "Graduation" LP is a solid effort. It features a snippet of the lead single "Stronger," which samples the Daft Punk song of the same name. The mixtape also contains several Common songs, and a bunch of remixes featuring Kanye, including "Buy You A Drank" and "Throw Some D's."

More or less the mixtape's fire. Cop that sh*t.

I've gotta give it up for Kanye. He came out with an alternative rap album and was able to penetrate the mainstream with a style that was something radio listeners weren't used to hearing. He has really come to the top of the game in an industry full of cheap snap music artists and dime-a-Dozen crunk music artists. He has really clever lyrics, and obviously he has great production, being a great producer himself.

He is really one of the few mainstream rap artists that are actually helping the genre. Great stuff. Get his first album, College Dropout. So many good songs on that album, Never Let Me Down, Through the Wire, Get 'Em High, Jesus Walks, New Workout Plan, All Falls Down, an all around great album.

He should really work with electronica bands from France more. Actually Stronger is one of my least favorite of his songs. Gold Digger is pretty hilarious.

50 Cent: I'll Quit if Outsold by West - MSN Music News

MHDTV 08-11-2007 10:59 AM

 He won't stop making music, just not as a solo artist.

hstisgod 08-11-2007 11:59 AM

lmao ... would love to see fitty go away...

i get high sometimes 08-11-2007 12:05 PM

Lets just hope he lives up to this.

Bane of your existence 08-11-2007 12:16 PM

I'm honestly buying it. If he doesn't own up, atleast I'll have some new Kanye.

jackhammer 08-11-2007 04:45 PM

Do I have to? I usually operate a zero tolerance policy with this sort of trash.

i get high sometimes 08-11-2007 05:03 PM

How is Kanye trash? Are you lumping him in with every other rapper on the radio simply out of ignorance? Or is there alternate reasoning behind your statement?

adidasss 08-11-2007 05:12 PM

He has a few catchy hits, the rest is just filler.

jackhammer 08-11-2007 05:12 PM

Yeah because his name hasn't filtered through to me. I like A TRIBE CALLED QUEST/ DANGER MOUSE & GEMINI/ THE ROOTS/ ROOTS MANUVA/DEAD PREZ/ BLACK STAR/ DE LA SOUL/ MARXMAN/ BUSDRIVER/ LUPE FIASCO Kanye has never been mentioned as an influential guy to me at all. If he is, please point me in the right direction, and I will give you my honest opinion.

i get high sometimes 08-11-2007 05:40 PM

Listen to Through the Wire, Jesus Walks, Spaceship, Get 'Em High, Never Let Me Down, Two Words, and the New Workout Plan.

Laces Out Dan! 08-11-2007 08:27 PM

I dig Kanye..his albums are always a bunch of strong tracks..and then a bunch of weak tracks. Not too many in betweens..but who knows, I may go out and by this haha. I bet that 50 is just gunna spend like half a million dollars buying his own cds to give him a little jump start.

sleepy jack 08-11-2007 08:32 PM

Doesn't this just mean we'll have to endure another G-Unit album?

MHDTV 08-11-2007 11:59 PM

True...

Frances 08-12-2007 12:35 AM

I wouldn't buy either of their albums.
I wouldn't mind seeing 50 cent stop doing whatever it is he thinks he does but I'm not willing to buy a kanye west cd for it. Sorry.

i get high sometimes 08-12-2007 09:32 AM

If you like absolutely no hip hop, then, just a suggestion, why don't you stay out of the hip forum?

This, of course, isn't directed at any specific person

joyboyo53 08-12-2007 11:40 AM

although sometimes kayne has some decent lyrics, he has commited the mortal sin that was gold digger...

i do respect the fact that he made his way up by laying beats down before he was ever recognized.

Bane of your existence 08-12-2007 12:27 PM

He's a bit too self absorbed, but runs circles around 90% of popular hip hop

Piss Me Off 08-12-2007 01:22 PM

I was pissed off when i heard this news, i knew 50 cent only thought in money but this underlines it again...

I feel I have the right to talk about what I do and don't like.
I'm not trying to tell you not to listen to it.
Relax little buddy.

I'm not saying that you don't have a right to do it, I'm just telling you that any posts like that are useless and uninformative. They add nothing to the conversation and no one cares. Okay little buddy?

No one cares? Nearly.

You are the one who cares.
As long as I am not flaming anyone, being a total d!ck or continually spamming, nobody else cares. Settle down man. I was asked if I would buy it, I said no.

cmusiclives 08-27-2007 10:09 AM

Meh I really don't mind the arrogance and don't find it that unattractive. Fact is, Kanye cares about being a pop artists and expanding his sound and I can dig that.

Raine 08-27-2007 05:11 PM

I somehow don't think 50 was serious when he made that comment. If he was, then he really thinks too highly of himself.
Kanye isn't one of the best rappers out there but for mainstream rap he's pretty tough to beat.

jacklovezhimself 08-27-2007 07:34 PM

yeah at least Kanye can pronounce words correctly.
