White privileged is the reason why rap music is so ****ty today on the mainstream front. It has been corrupted by the government and the powers that be which is why it is not a tool of "free expression" like it once was. The rap music we hear today on the radio has a lot to do with the head white man behind the scenes controlling everything. The issue is much bigger than just "white" rappers.

Most of the corporate CEO's of these music companies and record labels are all white men.

These same white men perpetuate these false themes and ideals in popular rap music today..... themes that have nothing to do with hip hop.

They dont have a choice on those major mainstream labels.

Record companies are the managers and the artists are the employee's for those mainstream labels.

That's why you have MC's like Mos Def, Krs One, Nas etc who do their own thing because they want control over their output. Thats why I stan so hard for MC's like them, MC's who stay true to hip hop.

Maybe it is different here in the UK, but I would say 80% of mainstream rap you hear/see is made by black men.

It's still predominantly black in the US. Whitey taking over rap = irrational paranoid BS. Not to derail the thread but white people aren't the only ones with a ****ed up history. See: Armenian Genocide, Japanese war crimes circa WW2, racism against Irish immigrants in the US, Portugese Inquisition... the list goes on and it's not like the tribes of Africa were entirely friendly with each other either. They're not entirely friendly with each other NOW. I could be wrong but it seems every society has it's fair share of skeletons in the closet.

A case could be made that mainstream Hip-Hop and Rap is watered down and disingenuous but there's plenty of music out there by black and white artists that's still great. Hip-Hop and Rap aren't the only genres being watered down, either. R&B hardly has any actual musicianship anymore. Rock music... good god man don't get me started. And what the hell happened to Jazz?

I just think a lot of people are just ignorant about the history of hip hop and how hip hop was created. A lot of these so called "hip hop" heads that claim they know hip hop really don't know the first thing about it.

Any REAL hip hop fan knows that the mess that is being force fed to us on the radio via Clear Channel/Viacom is NOT real hip hop.

Yes, the white man in the big black chair is running the show and calling the shots when it comes to rap music that get spins on the radio (call me whatever you want but its the truth).

I am not going to sit here and pretend that "bling bling", "rims", "money, cars" etc all these false stereotypes are real reflections of the hip hop culture when it isn't.

In saying that does not make anybody racist or anti- white. Unfortunately the truth is a b%$# but it is the truth nonetheless.

I did not say any racial slurs or make any racial comments so you can save this for the real racists.

I am not lumping anybody. All I simply argued was that hip hop on the mainstream front is being controlled and these rappers are not the ones writing the lyrics and pushing these stereotypes, the corporations are whom are primarily ran by white men. That's not being a racist in pointing that statistic out. You can search it for it for yourself on the internet.


I'll tell you what IS racist though... whats racist are the millions of rap songs talking about bitches, n%$# and hoes and NOBODY says nothing about that.
