I would've given the album a lower score.
Good lord. A voice of reason.

im not going to question the negative opinions on the actic monkeys. we're all entitled to our own views etc etc. the fact is i like them, whether they are hyped to the high heavens or not makes no difference to me thinking their a good band. ive never been one to be affected by media attention, i like so many bands that recieve literally zero. what i dont like is the type of people that then start belittling people and their judgement who happen to be fans of a very popular band. that isnt a dig at anybody in particular, its a pre-emptive strike as i can see where this is going.

Try listening to an EitS song longer than 30 seconds and tell me its elevator music.

but that's just the thing, i've downloaded the entire album, and it really is....if i want really emotional, atmospheric music, i'll go for sigur ros, eits is just dull, and it takes them forever to build up a song.....by that time , i would have lost all interest.....and it's not even monumental....as you would expect from an instrumental band....if you want better instrumental , look up don't mess with texas right here on the boards and tell me what you think.....

Are you kidding me? Sigur Ros are like Baby's First Post-Rock band, they're songs are actually quite simple, and they're boringly average. The only song they have that's ever blown me away is "Untitled 8." Explosions in the Sky are so much better.

Which album did you download?

They do all have one common feature though. Mediocrity.

to be fair bands such as xiu xiu, mogwai, eits etc have a lot more talent collectively then most of the NME-laden bands.

Listen to "Memorial" and tell me that song isn't better than every song Sigur Ros have done combined.

They played that and "Six Days At the Bottom of the Ocean" when I saw them live, so fucking amazing.
