Who do u think is the best bassist
I have a lot u comment first.....
Go shavo ( whispers ) |
Alan Davey (Hawkwind) is hard as nails!
|
I'll go with Jack Bruce of Cream, or Jaco Pastorius. Always my top two favorites.
|
I just got turned on to Jaco Pastorius by the band I interviewed last week. He is awesome, not really my style of music but there is no denying the man was brilliant.
I am of course a huge Rush fan, so Geddy Lee is still the best in my book. |
^ Yeah I second that.
Rush are amazing and Geddy is really talented. Playing the bass, keyboard and singing at the same time is so cool. Also, Steve Harris- I'm a huge Maiden fan Lemmy from motorhead and Cliff Burton was really talented too. |

Jaco is great. I Bootsy is good too. Same with Flea |
Charles Mingus, Peter Hook and Kim Deal (not the most technically amazing bassists, but their lines were killer), Scott LeFaro, Stanley Clarke.
|
Les Claypool
Flea |
Rock/Metal Favourites:
Flea (RHCP), Les Claypool (Primus), Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Dirk Lance (Incubus), Geddy Lee (Rush), Tony Choy (Atheist), Tony Levin (King Crimson) Tim Commerford (RATM), JPJ (Led Zep), John Entwistle (The Who)and the list goes on... Other Favourites: Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Stu Hamm, James Jamerson So overall, my fav bassist ever would have to be Flea. |
Totally off topic but the bass line in Danzig's Devil's Plaything is BADASS!!!
I'm listening to it right now T-U-F-F :bringit: 700 Club yo!!! |
Cliff Burton, for proof see Cliff 'Em All.
|
^Mhmm great bass player...Scott Clendenin from Death is a very good bass player...the bass solo to "Spirit Crusher" is just awesome
|
jaco is RoXXorz. im not really into him, im not a jazz/fusion person but i cant deny his greatness.
shavos pretty cool. krist novaselic from nirvana made some pretty sweet lines (if they wernt by cobain) |
Matt Freeman, Steve Harris

I totally forgot about Matt. I wouldn't consider him the best thought but he is a damn fine punk bassist. |

Tere is no best bassist ever really, but some of the greats are Jaco Pastorius and Geddy Lee. Cliff Burton was good on Anesthesia. Flea and Les Claypool are good at slap bass. Marcus Miller also.

I hear the guy from Rancid is actually really talented.
Cliff Burton will melt your face, in my opinion, he is the reason that Metal is as high end as it is, well, at least 1/3rd the reason. |
Dave Allen, Peter Hook, Matt Safer.
|
Flea mebbe? I don't know really. Twiggy Ramirez is pretty good.
|
Geddy Lee
|

Tim Commerford for me thanks.

Flea or Cliff
|
Gotta go with Les Claypool or Paul McCartney.
|
Jack Bruce has to be up there....then there's Geddy Lee - very underrated...
|
Geezer Butler, and John Paul Jones a close second.
|
Paul McCartney
Geezer Butler Scott Reeder Cliff Burton Al Cisneros Les Claypool Tim Commerford Justin Chancellor |
bass players recieve pussy only after the rest of the band, the roadies and the driver of the bus have recieved theirs
|
I`ll say Sid Vicious on account of the fact he was the first to realise people didn`t give a toss about bassists so just did random stuff to keep the crowd entertained.
|
I'm with you, stupid instrument.
