i never understood this supposed ethic. Kurt Cobain played plenty of solos on Nirvana tunes. Pearl Jam? Mike McCready is all over the place all the time. Soundgarden, Kim Thayil could noodle like no other - when it fit the song.

the angle was no superfluous solos, no soloing just for the sake of wanking on the guitar. make it tuneful and melodic, and most of them understood it. McCready could be guilty of hairing it up a bit on the early PJ discs though.

if anything it's Nu-Metal and it's offshoot of even crappier late 90s industrial pop that ascribed to the idea that guitar solos should never exist.

Kim Thayil of Soundgarden also did a lot of solos on their earlier albums too.

I have listened to some of their work. The lead singers voice is just too annoying for me to listen to more of their music.

My favorite band of all time. Not the same without Layne now obviously, but new singer Duvall kicks plenty of ass, as does their new album.

Top-tier rock band, right here. Jerry Cantrell is a genius.

Tripod is AIC's best album. That is all.
